Hello! This chapter is much shorter than the others because I didn't really know what else to add to this! Enjoy!
I meet up with the rest of the group in the Great Hall and eat my sandwich really quickly. I have a free period next and I want to read in the library. I say goodbye to everyone and head off to the library by myself. I pull a muggle book out of my bag and take a seat on one of the couches in the back.
"May I sit?" I hear and look up from my book. It's James. "I'm beginning to think you're stalking me." I say as he sits down and throws his bag on the floor. "Or you're stalking me." He says with a grin. "That's not how it works. I was here first therefore I can't have stalked you." I say from behind my book smirking at his stupidity. "Whatever." He sighs exasperatedly.
"What are you reading?" He says, peering over my shoulder. Madam Pince shuffles over to us. "Sh!" She hisses aggressively. I giggle lightly and James takes a book off the shelf and opens it to a random page. He puts it between his face and Madam Pince's glare and continues whispering to me.
"So, how was your first day so far?" He asks casually. "It was fine." I respond going back to my book. He runs his hand through his hair and grins at me. "You really don't want to talk to me right now." I sigh. "It's not that I don't want to talk to you. I just really want to read right now." I whisper to him. "Ok, I get it. You can read now." He goes back to his book.
"Did you even look at the book you chose?" I ask, smiling. "Truthfully, no. I just picked a random book so I could talk to you, but now you don't want to talk to me so I'm going to pick another book." He gets up and goes to one of the book shelves.
Strange. Why does he keep trying to talk to me? Why the interest in being friends? Could he... like me? No, probably not. I mean he only asked me out all these years because I was the only girl he couldn't get to say yes to him.
"I'm back!" He says loudly, attracting a stare from Madam Pince who hisses at him again. "Yes, I can see that." I say without looking up from my book. He sits down next to me and starts reading. We both read for the rest of the period and I head off to Transfiguration while he goes to Herbology.
I take a seat at the front of the classroom and sit between Marls and Alice. Marls leans towards me. "We need to have a girl's night soon. We all need to talk." I whisper back, "I completely agree. In my room?" She nods.
The rest of class goes quickly and Professor McGonagall talks to us about N.E.W.T.S and what we're going to be learning this year. She dismisses us and we walk back to the Gryffindor common room together.
We talk for a while and we're all really happy that we don't have homework on our first day back. The marauders come into the common room and sit down with us. "James, can we have a girl's night in our common room sometime soon?" I ask sweetly, hoping he'll say yes. "Can I come?" James asks eagerly. Marls smirks at me.
"Are you a girl?" I ask him, grinning. James grins at me, his dimple appearing in his cheek. "Ah, they figured out your secret!" Sirius says and we all laugh. We talk for a long time and Remus and I begin to read once we get bored with the conversation. After what seems like hours, Peter announces. "Dinner time!" We all jump up out of our seats and walk downstairs to the Great Hall.
I take a seat between Marls and Mary and across from James, who keeps looking at me weirdly. The food is amazing and slightly lighter than yesterday's feast, but just as delicious. We take our time eating and talking because we have nothing else to do. We wait until we are the last student's there, and finally leave.
We are all pretty tired from our first day back, so we just head to our own common rooms and hang out there. I read my potions textbook for a while and then finish one of my muggle novels. I fall asleep on the couch at around 12 and the next morning I wake up in my own bed. Strange. Maybe James levitated me up the stairs.
