His hands are against the glass as he stares at Mother's last present. The glass is fogging with his breath. I draw a smiley face. His eyes become filled with more joy than I have seen in years. He is happier now. With his face still close to the glass, I slowly untie the knot. And finally the bow slides apart. We both look at each other with excitement. I carefully take off the lid of the box.
