Hana's POV:
I groaned as I planted my face in the picnic blanket of the greenhouse. Arthur, a boy with dark brown hair and blue eyes, chuckled. "Today was so hard," I complained.
It has been a month since Arthur and I dated. It has been a month since the Mark attack. It has been a month since we've found out about the history of how the Mark came to be.
"Hana, get up, you don't want to spend a great afternoon with your face in the ground," Arthur said crouching down to try to convince me to get up.
"Leave me!" I commanded my boyfriend.
"H-Hana..."
"Let me be!" I yelled again. Arthur sighed in defeat and sat on the porch swing. He stared at me as flipped myself so that I was looking at the sky instead of the picnic blanket.
"Oh the sky is so blue. And you guys will be there too!" I sang. Arthur chuckled. "Have you gone crazy?" he asked. "I hope not. Because I can't tell," I said back at him.
"You seem like you've gone crazy. Did you drink alcohol?" he asked. My face went red. The other week, I drank alcohol by accident and accidentally became a firework without the flying. Basically, Bea, the little water draggon, had squirted water at me for the rest of the day.
"N-No! If I did my magic would go out of control and..." my voice trailed off when I realized Arthur was already laughing.
"Not funny," I pouted and crossed my arms. "Of course it is," Arthur said staring into my green eyes.
"Beware!"
I sat up so quickly, Arthur jumped in his seat.
"Beware!"
"Did you hear that?" I asked him. Arthur gave me a confused look. "Is it the plants again?"
"Beware!"
"I-I think so. I'm not really sure though. They usually talk to me in a more informal way. Now they're just saying one word with no other explanation."
"Beware!"
"Okay! I get it! I'm aware! I'm aware!" I yelled from frustration.
"What are they saying?" Arthur asked. "Beware," I repeated. "Beware, Hana is gonna go insane soon."
"Alright, I know that we were just goofing off earlier, but I think we should actually listen to the plants because of how important their words are," I said in a frustrated tone. Arthur nodded in agreement, already used to the intonation of my voice.
"What do you think it means?" Arthur asked as I sat down beside him on the white porch swing. "I don't know. Do you think it's connected with..." my voice trailed off, but Arthur nodded which meant he understood what I was saying. "It could be. And they aren't wrong, you know. I would search for answers if something sketchy is going on," Arthur said.
"But you better not get into too much trouble," I pouted for dramatic effect. "How can I? You know info brokers like me tend to get into too much trouble," Arthur smirked handsomely. I sighed in defeat.
"What do you want to do now?," Arthur asked. I ignited a small flame. It danced across my palm as my mind wandered to what had happened a few weeks ago.
Fire had never been my expertise, especially since my main element is earth, but I had used it to fight a creature of Daphtus in the war between the Mark and the Legion. After the Goddess of Storia changed the Ancient Rules, the monsters have become more peaceful, but some still attack Daphtians for food. The Goddess wasn't wrong, she never want to disturb the balance of the world. There just simply have to be those at the bottom of the food chain.
