Arthur's POV:
I was running as fast as I could and I almost lost the trail. It had zipped out of the window and I had to jump out too, and if it weren't for my quick reflexes, I would've fallen into
Before I knew it, I had reached the borders of the school, but the glitter trail continued on. I had almost jumped above the newly installed stone walls that were heavily enchanted to keep anyone unauthorized from coming in. But that enchantment also keeps us in.
I jumped on top of the wall and realized something. The magic put in place here is mostly wind magic and a fraction of the breeze was missing. I could easily slip out, but I thought otherwise. I took a small penny out of my pocket and tossed it at the rest of the glitter. I almost missed because of the rate its fading.
After one quick check that the penny is stuck on whatever that trail was, I hopped off and dashed for the greenhouse.
I passed the place where Samuel and I had been before he left. There wasn't anything suspicious about it, just the faint trace of magic left.
I raced inside and ran for the top floor where I found Hana already waiting. She was sitting on the porch swing and pondering to herself.
I smiled as I stared at her. I had forgotten how cute she is.
"Hey," I greeted as I took a seat beside her. Hana snapped out of her thoughts and greeted back, "H-Hey."
We stared at each other's eyes for a moment too long and I saw it.
"Hana," I said in a stern voice. She looked down as she fiddled her thumbs. I cupped her cheek and tilted her face back upwards so that she'd look at me.
"Tell me everything you know," I told her.
Hana took a deep breath and let it out. "Sorry, I've been hiding so much, I just," she didn't finish her sentence as she broke down into tears. "Bea."
I hugged her close as she sobbed silently. I didn't know how to comfort her, but it broke my heart seeing her cry.
A few moments later, she dried her tears and inhaled sharply. "You already know most of the story, but just this one part," she said and I nodded.
"Joanna said that they were going to leave tomorrow. I think that's what I told you," Hana said.
"Yes."
"Well, they left just earlier. Heroid talked Joanna into going as soon as possible, so they packed up their things and left immediately," Hana said.
"Through the crack in the gate?"
Hana nodded. "They were able to find a weak spot within the barrier and asked Samuel to open it up for them. Heroid said that draggons follow Fate and Destiny. If Destiny tells them to do something, they follow. Samuel is the creatures communicator and, according to Heroid, has the spirit of a draggon as well. So Samuel followed what he has to do," she explained.
"I threw a tracker on them," I told her.
"I know. But they should be fine," Hana said.
I thought for a moment.
"Hana, do you or Joanna even have a concrete idea on who this person actually is? So far, my guess is as good as yours. For all we know, he could be a skilled murderer," I told her.
Hana opened her mouth to say something, then gasped.
"Joanna's instructor?" she croaked.
I looked at her for a moment. "There was an ancient deity called 'Esdras', but more commonly referred to as 'Ezra'. The stories say that he was the Goddess's best friend in the real world and was promised a world in Storia to rule over," I told her.
