After hours of checking in and standing in line for rental cars, the AirBnB that Nicholas had picked out was their destination. Maya rested her head on Sajaír's shoulder, catching up on the hours of sleep that she missed on the plane fooling around. He gripped her thigh before shaking it, causing her to stir awake. "Wake up, we're almost there." He said, driving into a gated community that looked way out of her pocket range. She scratched the sleep from her eye before raising completely, almost pressing her forehead to the window when they passed the fountain. "This is gorgeous, too gorgeous. I hope it didn't cost that much," She said, focusing her comment on Nicholas who had been driving the rental car. She looked out the back window to find Reign and Cree following them. They both seemed to be dancing to music.
"It was within the price range," Nicholas said before parking and turning the car off. It was one of those drive ways that was accompanied with a fountain, circular shaped too. Maya gawked for a few moments before Sage came around to open her door. Like the gentleman that he is, of course. A butler man met Nicholas halfway, immediately shaking his hand with respect before going to everyone's trunks and gathering the luggage. "Alright, the butler's name is Todd and he'll be showing us to our rooms. There's a backyard and lake area, I say we have dinner there tonight," Nicholas said as the entourage walked into the house. Maya glanced back to look for Amirah, which Sage seemed to read her mind.
"She's out handling groceries and business, she'll be in soon." He kissed her temple with his arm around her waist. It was a firm grip as he did so, stalking off soon with Nicholas to see their business chambers in the mansion. Jasmyn stood next to her best friend, the both of them standing in the entrance area with analytical faces. "Between the stairs, the large living room or the view? I can't tell which to love more," Jasmyn said before hugging her best friend. Todd came around to grab the rest of the luggages and show Jasmyn to her room on the other side of the house. Maya didn't know how to feel, honestly. It was beautiful and large, but was it the perfect hideout? It had constantly ran over her mind."So, the grocery stores out here are packed. I didn't go to Walmart because I thought, everyone loves Walmart," Amirah said over dinner, taking a sip of her wine from the glass. "I go to this cooky spot named Kroger and boom, it's even more packed. It's Walmart on steroids with the groceries," The entire table laughed, silverware hitting the plates as they all devoured the food prepared by the staff. Amirah was more upset learning that prior to coming here, things were stocked up. It was worth the trip, they all agreed.
After dinner, Maya entered the kitchen to meet a petite and young looking female who had been doing the dishes. Maya dumped her wine glass in the sink, the girl stepping aside with a smile. "It's nice to meet you, Miss Maya. I'm Emily and I'll be apart of the house staff." Emily said, both her and Maya exchanging handshakes. Maya started to help her on the dishes, even though the protesting against was convincing. She didn't want to seem like she was royalty or anything, she was just a normal girl. Maya bumped into the kitchen sink, hitting one of the wounds that she had recovered from in surgery. In reaction, she moved back from the kitchen and dropped the glass that she held in her hands. Just in time, her man had appeared to come to her crumbling rescue.
"What did I tell you about taking it easy?" Sage said as the kitchen staff came to clean up her mistake. For some reason, she just felt emotional and useless after the such. She pushed Sage from her, fighting her way through his grip before walking to their room. She heard Sage call after her several times, but she just couldn't let her pride down to stop and listen. In the bedroom now, Sage finally caught a hold on her arm and pulled her attention towards him. He shook his head in confusion, wiping away her tears of frustration. "Why are you crying? There's no reason for you to be crying." Sage said.
"I just feel like a fuck up, I don't know. Everything that's going on, it's just too much," Maya said, wiping her face as well before shaking her head. You could consider this a panic attack or something of the sort. Sage held her until she calmed down, sitting her down on the bed before running to the bathroom to start a bubble bath. Soon, Maya was being stripped of her clothing and forced to relax in the hot bubble bath. Candles had been set up, soft jazz music had been playing and the mood was right. She had her back turned to the door when it opened and locked, causing her to look back at no other than Sage.
The way his chocolate skin glistened against the candle light, his strong pecks and his nicely assorted abs — he just looked good. He removed the last of his clothing, Maya trying her best not to avert her eyes to his swinging manhood. She scooted in the tub, allowing him more room once he entered. He let out a soft sigh, resting his head back against Maya's chest. Her hands wrapped around his shoulders, holding him softly as he spoke to her. "You're not a screw up, Maya. What happened should have never happened. I'll do anything to protect the woman that I love, even if that means uprooting everything I have and replanting it again," He said, turning around and looking in her eyes. "I want a family with you, Maya." He said, hesitantly, but still.
Maya blinked, unsure of how to confirm or deny his wants to start a family. "There's so many key components missing in starting a family together, Sajaír," She said, looking to him with worry. "We don't even have your father's approval, let alone his acceptance. You piss him off even further and you're likely to get cut off and removed as the heir," Maya stood, allowing the water to fall from her skin as she stepped out. She placed her hands on the sink, lowering her head as she thought. She didn't want to go against Carter's wish of them being together. She needed to find a plan to get him on board. Sajaír said no words to her proposal, because he knew in the end it was the truth.
"I have to say this because I mean it," She continued, turning to him with the arch of her back pressed against the counter. "I love you so much," She started. "It shouldn't have took a drive by to make you realize how much you loved me too." The silence in the room was so uncomfortable and heartbreaking. "I'm not saying that if things went different that it should've happened, but look what happened, Sajaír," Her hands raised in frustration. "We all could've died because of the disapproval and acceptance of your Father, so please take what happened as a wake up call that he cares for none of us. If you want me to carry your children, I won't do it in secret or in shame. My child won't be the result of your Daddy Issues." Maya said, covering herself in the robe before walking off. Sajaír remained in the bubbles. He had no response, but he heard her loud and clear.
