"C'mon, Peggy, channel your energy, focus it on a specific point."
I was at the S.H.I.E.L.D. base up in New York. I had a doctor's appointment about a month ago, which is where Dr. Eliza found a 'slight alteration in the blood that seems unrelated to the Super Soldier Serum.' It wasn't long after when I fessed up to Clint about my powers, who then told Uncle Phil, who then told Uncle Nick. I'd been trying to control my powers for the past two weeks, and virtually no progress had been made. So far we'd found out that I have object manipulation, which started as telekinesis and elementalism and was just simplified.
"I'm trying, Uncle Nick, I really am, it's just not working," I said, frustrated. I threw my hands into the air and walked over to the table on the far left side of the room to grab my water. We'd been in the training room for nearly four hours, "It's just too loud, I can hear Uncle Phil's breathing, and he's standing outside the door."
Uncle Nick puts a finger to his ear and says, "Coulson, start whispering some random stuff." I look at him puzzled, "Peggy, walk over to the far side of the room. Try to tell me what he is saying."
"Ok," I trailed off. I stood on the opposite side of the room from the door, like Uncle Nick said, and listened, "I bet that the 21st century's gonna bring some surprises, I'll tell you that. Man, I could really go for some Chicken Parmesan right now...or maybe some lasag-"
"That's enough, Peg," Uncle Nick cut me off, "You quoted Coulson word for word. I believe we can add heightened hearing to the list."
"Might want to add heightened senses in general. I can taste the Sprite that was in my water bottle three days ago, even though it's been washed. I can smell the pb&j you ate earlier today, even though you brushed your teeth afterward. I can feel the particles in the air, and I can see some of the bigger ones."
"I'll be sure to take note of that. Now, it's time to get back to your actual training. Try to take this ball of iron," he pulled a perfect sphere of iron out of his tote bag, "and shape it into a cube."
"Ok, I mean I've done it before, so this shouldn't be hard."
I reached out my hands and attempted the channel my energy through my fingertips. I tuned the rest of the world out, focusing only on my energy and the ball of iron. I closed my eyes to help focus myself. 'You can do this Peggy, you did at home with virtually no effort, I'm sure you can do it now, I believe in you.' I lightly bounced back and forth between each foot and I readjusted my hands every few seconds.
The ball began to lift out of Uncle Nick's hand, it was heavier than the one at home. My eyes fluttered open. I saw the ball floating closer to me and turning gently. I took a deep, low breath and refocused. I focus my energy on reshaping the ball into a cube.
It takes some time, but eventually, I get it. I reshaped the ball into a cube. I used my energy to move the iron cube back over to Uncle Nick's hand and set it down gently.
"I did it," I grinned.
