In Our Respective Places

Soon after returning to the Aidou Villa, the night class settled in and got ready to sleep for the day before returning to Cross Academy. Yuki sat on the edge of the bed Zero had been sleeping on. Currently he was in the shower, she could hear a faint sprinkling of water.

When Yuki had first opened her eyes as a vampire, her first thoughts were about how she yearned for nothing more than blood. Nothing in her mind was louder than the desire to drain Zero dry at that moment. And it scared her to have such a desire, it reminded her of her uncle and she refused to be like him. But she had never realized that even people outside of her family, felt betrayed by her. Like she had chosen to serve vampires for their gain because of her affection to Zero. That hunter gave her a wake up call, and now she had to prove she was just as much a hunter as she was a vampire, maybe even more.

She looked over at the shut bathroom door and gave it a somber smile. She stood up and quietly opened the window, soon after she jumped out of it. "Sorry, Zero. But I need to do this.." Yuki mumbled, she ran off into the woods.

"I dont know about you..." Zero exited the bathroom with pajama pants on and a towel over his head. He pulled it off rubbing at his hair. "...but Im- " He looked around the room and noticed Yuki wasnt there. "...exhausted..." He sighed and closed his eyes. He couldnt feel her anywhere in the building, and her scent was disappearing. A sudden gusts of light wind rushed against his side and he looked over at the window and noticed it had been fully opened. He groaned and placed his hand on his head. "Damnit, Yuki." He walked over to the chair his coat had been set on and wrapped it around him. His body twisted into silver bats and flew out of the window.

Yuki caught he breath against a tree and stopped. She could feel Zeros presence inching closer. She sighed and turned around to see a swarm of silver bats hit the ground and swirl back up, forming Zeros body. He tilted his head and stared at her. "What are you doing?" He asked.
    "Go back." Yuki said.
"You're stressing again, so you've thought of something stupid... what are you doing?" Zero stepped closer to her.
"When that hunter said I was a traitor, it clicked in my head..." She started. "...when I became a vampire I didnt just hurt Kaname, I hurt my people. I need to prove that I'm not just a vampire, I'm a Kuran hunter."
"So what? You're going to the hunter Association to get hurt? Theyll kill you on sight."
"No they wont! I've been there before! They know me!"
"As a human! The last time you went there you were human! And the last time any hunter saw you, you were well apart of the vampire society. You think theyll just let you stride in like good ol times?"
"Theyres something wrong! I heard one of the hunters talk about a parent or whatever, they're weapons are weaker. I could feel it when I was attacked, I should've died when i got hurt by the hunter." Yuki yelled. "I need to help my people."
"Then I'll come with you." Zero said.
"No! Theyll only capture you and interrogate you for your family."
Zero walked closer to her and pulled her into a hug. "Its inevitable that I'll follow you, so just let it happen. My family's name will always bring you troubles, so let me protect you." He said.

Yuki and Zero walked up to the entrance of the hunter Association and looked at eachother. Zero nodded and attempted to enter. A hunter soon appeared behind them. "Hey!" He said. They turned around to a man with a gun on his holster. "What does a pureblood and a traitor want with us?"
"W- " Zero began to speak but Yuki stepped forward.
"I'm here because the hunters are in trouble and I'm a hunter. Zero came with me because he worries. Please, let us in. We only want to help."
"You think I'm gonna let that sob story slide? How do I know that you're not just corrupted by that vampire and you're making a move?"
     "Loo- "
"Now now, Giyra."  A man in traditional robes came out from the building. "The Kurans have been a respected like of hunters for years, and now our young Yuki has the immortality and powers of a vampire, and she has a connection to one of the strongest pureblood families, shell be an important asset. Come in you two."
"Thank you, President." Yuki lead Zero in with her.
     "Yuki?"
They turned around to see Kaname approaching them. "Kaname!" Yuki walked over and hugged him. "I thought you were on a mission..."
"Yeah, I was called back because of the- " A hand was placed on Kanames shoulder.
"Not here, young Kuran. Let's go somewhere private." The Association President lead then into his office and closed the door. "Now that were here..." He sat at his desk. Yuki and Kaname sat on the two chairs and Zero stood behind Yuki. "...The parent, do you know what that is?"
The three looked at eachother and back at the President. "When I was little, my father told me of a story. Long before any of this, there was him. And a few other purebloods. The humans saw them as gods because their blood could do anything. Heal the sick, fight against death itself. But there were purebloods who took advantage of that and the humans retaliated." Zero said.
"What does that have to do with this 'parent'?" Yuki asked.
"Well, there was a war, and the parent... was my fathers first lover. He intended to become with parent and sacrifice his heart into the fire that would make the hunters weapons you hold today. But his lover did it before he could..." Zero mumbled the end part. He looked back up from the floor to the Association President. "...that woman, who is she? What is of her now?"
"Her body is long gone to us, along with her name. We only know her heart is dying. That furnace has been here for we dont know how long..." the president answered.
"Ten thousand." Zero said. "Years. Ten thousand years, that's the only background my father would give me."
"You're telling me, that your father was the ancestor of the Kriyu line?" Kaname asked.
"Yes. He lived alone for a long time, my mother found his body in a coffin and they fell in love after she awoke him... he said that she looked like his first love. And he died for her." Zero cleared his throat. "So what's wrong with her, the parent I mean."
"Shes dying, along with the weapons. Ten Thousand years of burning over and over again... it must be... tiring." The president said.
"So what now?" Yuki asked. "How can we help?"

The ground started to rumble. "What was that?" Kaname asked. The building shook around and a loud explosion was heard from outside. The four ran out to find a bunch of whisps whipping around in the air, emerging from the ground to a pointed end. The started to wrap around hunters and their weapons. The doors exploded open and out came Sara, the pureblood. "Zero Kriyu!" She smiled. "You're a hard man to find."
