ASHTON’S POV

“Oii Cal, pass me that hat.” I say reaching my hand out to Calum and grab the wide brim, fancy looking women’s hat. Hadley is in the changing rooms trying on her clothes and we got a little bored so now we are trying on some accessories to pass the time. None of us are aware of the fact that Hadley has walked out of the dressing room until we hear “HAHAHA WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” she practically screams through her fits of laughter. We all turn our heads looking in her direction and I don’t know about the other boys but I am a little embarrassed, I mean c’mon who wouldn’t be? I am standing here with a women’s hat on, a variety of necklaces and bracelets lacing up both of my arms. I can feel my cheeks start to lightly glow a red shade. After Hadley stops peeing herself with laughter she walks over to properly take in our appearances. Watching her face as she scans over all of us is enough for my to crack and I am basically on the floor, rolling with laughter, as are the other boys, with all the traces of embarrassment gone.

“You boys are so weird, what are you actually doing?” Hadley asks more composed now. “We got bored waiting, thought we would have some fun of our own.” Michael says smiling at her innocently. “Oh I worry about you four sometimes, I really do.” She says trying to hold back a grin. “So anyway, what do you think?” Hadley asks gesturing towards the black dress that compliments her body perfectly. “It’s too short and revealing isn’t it? I knew it, I’ll go get changed and we can go, hold on a minute.” She starts rambling when none of us answer her question. “Wait Hadley, what do you mean? That dress looks amazing on you.” Luke says and she bows her head down in obvious embarrassment, but I’m not sure why because Luke is right, it looks perfect on her body. “Uh, I don’t know it’s kind of um…?” Hadley stutters. “No Luke’s right, you should definitely get it.” I say and Calum and Michael agree. “Um okay, hold on let me get changed.” Hadley says and walks back into the dressing room and few minuets later she walks out, pays for the dress and we leave the dress shop behind.

“So where now?” Calum asks and we all shrug not knowing where to go. “Let’s just walk around, yeah?” Hadley says and that’s exactly what we do.

HADLEY’S POV

“Okay seriously we’ve been walking around for like three hours, how about we go back to mine and do something there?” I ask the boys, of course walking around with them for three straight hours was absolutely hilarious but my legs hurt now. “Alright do you want to call Tyla and let him know?” Ashton asks me and I nod pulling my phone out from my bag.

Tyla picked us up from town and now we are back at my house drinking the milkshakes we decided to make when we got home. Ty was at Mia’s house so the boys and I had the house to ourselves for now. “LET’S GO SWIMMING!” Luke suddenly shouts scaring the hell out of everyone. “OKAY!” Michael yells back, matching his tone and I stare at the boys while shaking my head and laughing at them. “Okay, do you boys need me to get you a pair of Tyla’s shorts to wear?” I ask getting up and they all nod. I make my way up the stairs and into Tyla’s room handing each boy a pair of shorts before going into my room and getting changed into my bikini and a singlet and picking up five towels from the cupboard outside.

I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn’t what I am looking at right now. The four boys stand in front of me shirtless and I try to sneakily take in their perfectly toned bodies, I mean wow, what is air? I think Calum notices me checking them out and chuckles slightly before I compose myself and walk ahead of them to the pool. The afternoon is well-spent just splashing around and playing pool games but there is only a certain amount of wrinkled skin I can take. Letting the boys know, I hop out of the pool and dry myself off, waiting for them to finish, which wasn’t much longer.

Eventually the boys get ready to leave with Tyla who recently cam from Mia’s. “Um Hadley, can I uh please talk to you?” I hear a voice stutter out nervously and I turn around to see Luke standing there shifting from foot to foot. “Yeah sure..” I say a little confused but guide him to the dining room so we can speak privately. “What’s up Luke?” I ask trying to sound normal. “Um I don’t really know how to say or ask you this but...” Luke stops unable to finish his sentence. “What’s wrong?” I ask feeling my heat beating faster by the second. “Okay so I um I-I…” “Spit it out Luke.” I say starting to get impatient and nervous. “I saw it Hadley, I saw the scars on your stomach. What happened?” Luke asks me with concern and I feel my mouth go dry, my heart starts beating rapidly and my palms become clammy. All of a sudden I feel extremely sick and I can’t do anything but stand in front of Luke with wide eyes while I was mentally and emotionally breaking down. Luke lifts my hand into his slightly and quietly whispers again “What happened Hadley? Please tell me?” But how can I tell him if I can’t even handle reminding myself of what happened. “I-I can’t Luke, I’m s-sorry.”

LUKE’S POV

“I-I can’t Luke, I’m s-sorry.” Hadley whispers tears threating to spill over the edge of her eyes. I don’t know what to say or think. I know what I saw outside and it wasn’t nothing. It’s not like on of those scars you get from falling off your bike or walking into something, it was serious and her reaction to what I said confirmed that for me. I hate the fact that by my asking that one question I am the cause to her pain. I mean I don’t know what or how it happened but I brought it up and I shouldn’t have, I may have crossed the line. Hadley looks as though she is going to shatter into a million pieces and it was one of the worst things I have ever witnessed in my life. I don’t know what to do, so I pull her into a hug letting her use my shoulder to catch her now freely falling tears.

“I’m so, so sorry Hadley, I’m so sorry.” I keep apologising as I hold her in my arms and I can feel her mumbling something into my shoulder that sound like she’s reassuring me, but why is she reassuring me? It should be the opposite way. I slowly pull her back from me so I can see her face but she quickly hides behind her hands, not for long though I gently pry her hands away from her face and lift her chin up. “I am so sorry Hadley, you don’t have to tell me, but please promise me you’ll stop crying?” I ask her trying to stare into her eyes and she nods trying to sniffle and stop the tears for dropping. “I’m sorry as well Luke, sorry that I can’t tell you and sorry for making you watch that. Maybe one day you’ll find out, but not yet, I’m not ready.” Hadley says but it comes out sounding more like a whisper. “It’s okay, I understand, let me know when you’re ready and I’ll be here okay.” I say to Hadley solemnly. “Thank you so much, you have no idea how much I appreciate that. Oh and one other thing, please don’t tell the other what you saw, I-I-I just can’t handle that now.” She says pleadingly. “Of course I won’t say anything, you have my word.” I say holding up my pinkie finger, which earns a confused look from Hadley, but she soon gets it when I take her pinkie and wrap it around mine. “I pinkie promise.” She lets out a slight giggle and cracks a small, grateful, tired smile.

“Luke you coming?” Ashton says walking in to the kitchen, but quickly retreats when he sees Hadley’s face. She might be putting on a smile but anyone can see the pain behind her eyes.

I reach down and hug Hadley once more and say “Bye Hadds, don’t cry, I’ll text you okay?” “Thank you Luke.” She says and I walk to the door where the others are waiting for me. We walk out to the car and as we drive down the road I pull out my phone ad open a new message,
