I watched as both Hunter and Maria devour the sandwiches. "Like father like daughter," I said when they finished. "You'd make a great mommy Ms.Emma," Maria said.
"Why thank you, Maria. I already am a mother though." I confessed.
"You are?" Hunter asked curiously.
"My daughters with her daddy for now," I said.
"Does she come to see you?" Maria asked. "All the time," I said. It was true, Skylar always came to visit me whenever she could. The front door opened and closed. "Mom." Was the only thing I needed to know that my daughter was here. Her father asked me earlier if I could watch her while he went on a 'business meeting.' I agreed because I wanted to see my daughter. Her birthday was coming up and my aunt was making the cabin her little hangout spot and I was going to win her back in court something she always wanted. "In the kitchen. You hungry?" I asked as she walked into the kitchen. As always she was beautiful her blonde hair curled, brown eyes sparkling, and wearing a little smile placed upon her lips. My angel as I often called her. "Not really." She said. "Hunter, Maria this is my daughter Skylar," I said.
"Nice to meet you," Hunter said.
"You too Mr.Hunter," Skylar said.
"Do you have homework?" I asked.
"I finished it at dad's," she said.
'You staying the night with me?" I asked. "Of course I am mom." She said holding up her bag to me. "I should get back to work," Hunter said.
"Wanna play or do something, Maria?" Skylar asked. "Sure," Maria said. Skylar was 12 and it looked as though Maria was 10. It felt good to have Skylar with me. I missed her all too much and when she turned 13 she would be living with me over her father. Her father was a great man, a doctor, but he was a liar and did it too often for me and I refused to accept that. Since he had a better job he took her and now that I'm editor an chief of a top magazine company I can take care of both her and me without any help from her father. "You guys go into the living room while I clean up in here," I said. Both girls raced out of the kitchen and into the living room to play or do whatever they were going to do. As I cleaned I couldn't help, but notice Hunter hard at work and looking gorgeous as ever. No Emma what are you thinking he is an employee, but one mighty fine one. What is wrong with me? I am engaged thinking about a guy who was not my fiancé
