It was around 6 when my aunt Helen and Lindsey walked through the door. "I thought you would have left by now," Helen said.

"I thought you'd wanna see someone," I said as Skylar walked into the living room to greet them. I told Hunter that he could leave early to be with his daughter. "Where's Hunter?" Lindsey asked. "Home," I said.

"You told him to leave?" She asked her eyes drowned of hope. "Yeah, he had other important things to do," I said.

"You staying for dinner?" Helen asked.

"No, I'm heading home. This one has school, and I have work." I said.

"Okay, we'll see you soon," Helen said.

"Bye grandma," Skylar said. Skylar doesn't know the Helen and Jack are my aunt and uncle and not my parents,  and that they are her great aunt and uncle. I couldn't bring myself to think of the past and tell my daughter that her grandparents died before she was born. We arrived at my house and I made dinner. Turkey, Mac and Cheese and also greens so that she wasn't having a plate full of starches. She got washed and dressed and I tucked her in her bed. She had a room here for whenever her dad had to leave town and she needed a place to stay.

Morning came and I got ready for work while Skylar got ready for school. A lady named Susan from editing was leaving for her wedding so the office through her a little party. I was driving to my aunts since I had a whole apple pie that I wasn't going to eat alone. I pulled into the driveway and saw my aunts car. I opened the front door and walked inside. "Anyone home?" I asked.

"I'm in the attic," Helen said. I walked upstairs and saw her going down with a purple beanbag chair. "What's this?" I asked. "Hunters almost done the cabin so I thought I would you know put some of the things I brought in there." She said. "Need any help?" I asked.

"Thanks, but no thank you. What brings you here?" She asked.

"I have a whole apple pie and no one to eat it with," I said.

"Don't get me, wrong dear, I love that you came to be, but what about your fiancé?" She asked.

"Adam hates apple pie. Remember." I said. "Puzzles me how you two are in love." She said. We walked to the kitchen and I got forks while Helen took the foil off the pie. "Do you think I'm making a mistake?" I asked putting my fork into the pie. "What do you mean?" She asked.

"Am I doing the right thing in marrying Adam?" I asked.

"It depends." She said.

"On what?" I asked.

"If you truly love him or if you're running away from the one you really love." She said. Was I wrong for telling Adam yes? Could Hunter be the man I needed? Could I be the woman that he needed? Could I be the proper mother to his daughter?
