Jimin

When he returns to school the next day, his back feels more sore than it's ever been.

Usually Jimin can push through just fine. But now, with his sweet relationship with Y/n, it's different. The pleasant time he gets with her during the day makes the nights more stressful and difficult.

Except, Jimin is okay with it. The moment Y/n gave him her number, he latched onto her and couldn't let go. She had found a way to pull him out of the deepest darkest pit of his thoughts and now, simply knowing her makes him feel complete. Liking her makes him feel light. Dating her makes him feel as if he's flying.

Jimin sits in his usual chair at the usual round table in the cafeteria, and as usual, pulls out his laptop and logs on to worry about his usual business, typing away at lyrics and editing them.

And just as usual, Y/n walks in and sits down next to Jimin at approximately 7:22, the time that her bus usually gets to school. "Morning," comes her voice in its usual morning tone, tired but ready for the day. Jimin closes his laptop and gives her his usual smile, happy to see her, as usual.

Everything is the same every morning, timed perfectly and put on loop.

"Good morning," Jimin replies. He leans over and kisses Y/n's cheek before he begins packing his laptop back into his bag.

"I have something to tell you," Y/n says.

Now that part wasn't usual.

Jimin freezes mid-zip and looks up from his backpack, eyes meeting hers nervously. What is it? Should I be worried? Is she about to tell me she hates me?

Y/n reaches down and wraps her fingers around Jimin's on his backpack zipper, then closes it the rest of the way. "It's nothing to worry about," she laughs. "Well, sort of." She lets go of Jimin's hand and he sits up straight, wiping his sweaty hands on his jeans.

"My mom says that she has something important to tell me and Lily tomorrow, and she's having us miss a day of school for it," Y/n says. Tomorrow? Jimin thinks. But Y/n is the one and only person I want to be here tomorrow. For my Birthday.

"And I know tomorrow is your birthday, so I figured I'd tell you ahead of time," Y/n continues. Jimin blinks. "Oh," he says, straining to keep the disappointment from his voice. "When will you be back?"

"Mom just wants us to miss school. I should be home for the rest of the day. We can hang out then."

Jimin's smile returns to his face. "I'd like that," he says. Y/n smiles back, and leans over to open her backpack. "I have something here..." she mutters, and pulls out a large orange envelope. One of those big ones lined with bubble wrap on the inside. On the front is written Jimin's name in English and in Korean.

"I google translated this," Y/n says, blushing madly. "I don't know if it's correct, but I don't know how to read that, so... it's probably wrong. It looks sketchy to me." She rambles off, her face only reddening as she digs herself deeper into an awkward state.

Jimin laughs and pokes her forehead. "You're so cute," he says. All of his anxiety from before leaves him. She wanted to do something special for him, and that makes his chest feel warm inside.

"Anyway," Y/n mumbles. "It's for your birthday. So don't open it yet."

Jimin nods. Got it. He takes the big envelope from her hands and looks at the front. Her handwriting in English is pretty and neat, and her writing in Hangul is blocky and perfect, in attempt not to mess it up. Jimin thinks it's cute.

Park Jimin
공원 지민

Jimin grins. No wonder she thought it looked sketchy. Jimin wants to mention the little mistake to her, and show her how to write his name, but is afraid to offend her. Or make her feel bad. It's just a simple mistake, why would she feel bad? Jimin thinks to himself.

I would feel bad. Because she probably worked hard on this and a simple mistake seems like a jerk thing to point out.

But also, it's not a jerk thing. She would think it's funny.

Jimin ends the war with himself when he realizes that he's feeling anxious over nothing, and Y/n totally would not suddenly think he's a jerk because he points out something on the envelope. He likes her because she makes him feel less anxious in the end.

"What are you smiling about?" Y/n asks. Jimin blinks his thoughts away and glances at her, still smiling, then points to the word 공원 on the envelope.

"Oh god," Y/n says, a grin on her face. "I totally got it wrong."

"Well you put it through google translate," Jimin says. "And it got confused. I think it's funny. This word is kongwon (or gongweon, for those who want the exact letter by letter translation), the Korean word for park- like a playground kind of park."

Jimin pulls out a pen from his backpack and writes 박 on his hand. "This is Park, as in my last name. But it doesn't translate on google because the letters, if written in their english equivalents, would spell b-a-k. It's a little confusing."

Y/n laughs. "That's actually kind of funny," she says. "Kongwon Jimin."

Jimin smiles wider when she laughs. "You should write your name on my hand," she suggests. "So I can remember it for later."

Jimin takes her hand and laces his fingers with hers, then brings it toward him to write.

좋아해<3
-박 지민 오빠

(If there happen to be actual Koreans or people who know Korean reading this, I'm sorry, I have no idea if any of this is accurate😅)

"What do the other words mean?" Y/n asks.

"The first one is, 'I like you,' and that one by my name is just... some kind of suffix in Korean. For names." The tiny lie slips through his grinning lips. The other word is oppa, but so far it looks like she hasn't googled it yet (he doesn't know what she'll find as a result) and... maybe he likes seeing it on her hand.

"Ah," Y/n says. "Sweet. Anyway- don't open this until tomorrow." She gestures toward the envelope. "Preferably when I'm not there, because I feel very awkward about it. I think it's kind of cheesy."

Jimin smiles and slips the envelope into his backpack carefully. "Cheesy or not," he says. "I think it'll be perfect." He tangles a hand in her hair and pulls her face toward his, meeting her in a short kiss. He closes his eyes. When he pulls away he doesn't open them, and his forehead touches hers.

"Do you... Do you mind if I kiss you more?" He whispers. Y/n lifts her chin and kisses him again in answer. This one lasts longer and Jimin tilts his head to respond to it. If he can kiss her like this forever, he'll be the happiest almost-18-year-old boy in the world.

Forever may not be reasonable, but for the rest of the morning before the bell rings is a fair enough time for Jimin, and he enjoys every moment of it.

Hello lovely readers, sorry I update so much. I just can't stop writing sometimes. Anyway, thank you for coming here, and I hope you have a good day/night!<3
