America is where everyone says it's free
It's the dreamland for many
And the place where dreams are meant to explore
Yet I am just an alien in your country
What wrong did I do for being different?
What wrong did anyone do to be treated like this?
No matter how many times I replay it in my head
I can't seem to see why all this hate is here
No matter what you ignorant people say
I am proud of the color of my skin
Being in this bipolar country is torture
Being afraid of going out because I am different
Isn't the life I chose to have
They like our culture but not us
They say we steal their jobs
But we do the jobs they don't want
Yet so many are deported back
Children go missing in the detention centers
Yet nobody talks about it
It gets covered up by the media
And we're back to the "Mexicans are drug addicts"
They fail to realize many only want to be happy
And work hard for their families
But none of that matters
Because we are only insects in their eyes
Only whites get treated like humans
If this is what America stands for
Then America was never great
I'd rather go back to my country
And live free without any fear
Because nothing is better than feeling safe
And feeling loved
I am a proud Mexican
And I wouldn't have it any other way
Express your own culture no matter what other people say
Some only talk
While others hate full of jealousy
Be proud of who you are
And never forget where you come from
Because that's what makes you, you
Stay safe and strong
And forever be loved
