Chapter 23: Rematch! Rider VS Hex

(Warning: Heavy blows dealt, things get cut, violence)

As Rider walked back to the battle arena, he gripped his ultraviolet dynamo. This was it, he'd been given a rare second chance, and he was going to use it. As he neared the end of the hallway, he peeped through the window. Outside was a balcony in the lair leading to the arena. Rider took in a deep breath before pushing open the doors and entering the quiet room.

Once he got close to it, Rider looked down on the arena. Hex was already there, looking around for Rider despite the very, very large amount of flat space in the room. Rider simply watched Hex search from where he was without saying a word. Maybe he could get an ambush in if he was careful enough, that would definitely aid him in the fight. Unfortunately, all hopes of an ambush were thrown out the window when Hex spotted him.

"There you are. Why aren't you following my orders? You were supposed to wait outside, you know," Hex said, almost as if he was unaware that Rider wasn't hexxed anymore.

"I'm immune to your scummy tactics, that's all," Rider replied coldly.

"Well, I can always just kill you here and now, but you seem to be almost unworthy of it. So low level that someone like me doesn't need to."

"Don't you worry about that. I know what justice truly means now, and I'm ready to deck you in the face for what you've done."

"Hah! As if. A weak inkling like you could NEVER beat a fully grown sea monster like me," Hex bragged.

"Oh yeah? Allow me to prove it to you."

Rider jumped down from the balcony and splashdown-landed in the arena. He glared at Hex in hopes of intimidating him. Hex simply smiled, almost mocking Rider in a way.

"Well, looks like I don't have to go easy on you anymore..."

Rider watched as the black marks on Hex's body began to light up. He reeled back a vertical flick for when Hex finished his pathetic little light-up scheme.

"Time to go luminous," Hex grinned evilly.

Vintage was busy looking for the squidbeak. He'd inked a path across the streets, just so that he could swim around faster and get back to the warehouses. He noticed that as he walked, the two dark figures followed him with their boomboxes, leaping across rooftops. He didn't really care about them now, but they were the ones who were playing the calamari inkantation. He'd need them to free the others. Speaking of which, he'd reached the warehouses already.

As he turned a corner, he saw his first victim. Gloves was standing idly by, but was staring straight ahead with an emotionless face. His dualies were at the ready, and Vintage prepared for a fight by revving up his splatling. The two figures also found a safe rooftop to land on, and prepared to play the inkantation. Unfortunately, in the quiet night, the splatling made some noise.

Gloves heard the sound, noticed Vintage, and shot straight at him, dualies in hand. Vintage EASILY shot Gloves down and stepped on him while the two figures behind him played the Calamari Inkantation. Vintage could see Gloves coming to his senses and got off him, but did not help him up. A superior person like him didn't need to help an inferior like Gloves. It mattered not anyway, as Gloves stood up himself.

"Where...what's going on?!" Gloves exclaimed, looking around frantically. "Why am I out here?!"

"You and the rest of the pathetic ones got hypnotized by that purple giraffe and now Rider's back in there, fighting for his life against him," Vintage growled.
