Chapter 15: Skull VS Celadon

(Warning: Violence)

Skull was now wandering the streets, looking for Nexus Laser's Central Park. The map had said it wasn't too far from the hospital, but it was supposedly super huge. It was the next day already, and everyone had gone to get their rest. Nana had also decided to go after Mareiah today, but Goggles and Rider were staying back, since losing two people to missions was enough. Skull didn't really care either way. He had a mission to do, and he was going to do it.

The only thing was...he didn't have the map WITH him. Rider said he needed it for planning out everyone else's trips, but Skull and Vintage thought that was a horrible idea. Skull had a tendency to get lost, so a map would've helped. In fact, he had no clue where he was RIGHT NOW. If only Rider would have listened. Skull began looking for one of those electronic boards that had a map, or a newsstand containing the small, plastic/paper kinds.

He found one on the corner of the street he was on, and ran over. It was being run by some kind of humanoid dolphin in a black and blue suit, and there was nobody else around it at the moment. Skull quickly got their attention by knocking on the side of the metal newsstand gently.

"Excuse me, how much are these maps?" Skull asked.

"Oh, they're free."

"Thank you."

Skull took one and left the place quickly. Upon looking at it, he saw that he was actually several blocks over from where the park was. Well, good thing he'd gotten the map. He began running along the sidewalk to get back to the right path to the park. According to the map, a few defining features of the park were its fountain, three large rocks, and this one really large tree decorated in multicolored pieces of paper and duct tape.

As he neared the park, he could see the tree. Rider had said the chemical crystal was here in a statue, but...where? As soon as he got to the border of bushes around the park, Skull ran alongside them until he found an entrance. Inside, the place was very, very pretty. Colorful flowers stood out amongst the gray stones they were surrounded by. The sunlight and the blue sky really lit up the green on the trees and bushes. It was amazing.

But Skull didn't have time for this. He had to look for the crystal. Looking at the map again, he saw he'd taken the southern entrance to the park, and that the fountain was just up ahead, in the center of the park. Wasting no more time, Skull ran to it, passing by several other species that were taking selfies or admiring the plants. As he approached the fountain, he skidded to a halt in front of it.

It was a beautiful twist of black and white polished stone, with colored gems decorating it and reflecting the sunlight. There were things that looked like colorful coral sticking out, but they weren't real. Water spewed out from a small statue at the top, where a hand-sized crystal rested within the...

THE CRYSTAL!

IT WAS ON TOP OF THE FOUNTAIN!

But...Skull didn't see that seahorse or leafy sea dragon or whoever around anywhere. Maybe he could take the crystal for safekeeping and give it back once he found them? He sighed, not ready to get himself wet. He slowly stepped into the fountain, and began to climb up the center part using the coral pieces. Already, he could hear murmuring from behind him.

He ignored what people were saying however, and kept going. The fountain wasn't that high, but it was high enough to hurt if he fell down. He was already unsure about this. Maybe he should've checked for traps first? But the crystal was so close...

As he reached over to grab it however, it began to move. It was pulled out of his reach and lifted into the air by some unknown force as people behind him gasped in astonishment. Skull immediately remembered what Vintage said, and jumped down from the fountain. He whipped out his Verdant E-liter, firing several lesser-charged shots at the sky. A few of them hit the air, revealing a long tail attached to a body. The leafy sea dragon was already here!
