(Ruby)

Ruby approached Laura after she was done with a customer.

"Busy day." She said.

"Yep." Laura nodded. "And the more sales, the more cash." She smiled.

"Of course." Ruby nodded. "How's Lucas?" She asked.

Laura walking to her office, rolled her eyes. She'd told her friend about him and how boring he was.

"Fine, I guess." Laura said with a shrug.

"Good to hear. I see love in the air." Ruby teased.

"That ain't happening, I don't want him boring me with arteries and blood and..."

Ruby cocked an eyebrow at her. "Is that mostly your conversations?"

"Not really. He also talks about how smart he is, he won an award..."

Ruby cocked another eyebrow at her. "Come on, just  give him a chance. He seems like a nice guy."

"Yeah, right. Now you're beginning to sound like my mom." Laura sighed.

Ruby shook her head.

"We have a date tonight, though." Laura said, looking at Ruby.

"Nice, you want me to help you find a dress. I can get you a sexy one to blow Lucas' mind." She grinned.

"You're annoying, you know that?"

Ruby laughed. "Cheer up, girl. Give the guy a chance."

"You think so?" Laura asked with a sad face.

"Yeah, you'll find out he's not as bad as you think." Ruby shrugged.

Laura sighed. "Alright. I'll give it a shot."

Ruby smiled at her. "Yeah, you should."

Ruby had still been thinking about how and why she couldn't recognize Damien as the boy she knew. He was the same person she was gradually growing feelings for.

What was happening to her? She thought. She had to keep her distance. She had to act professional, cos any bad move would cost her relationship with Andy.

She couldn't lose such a good man like him. Andy was the man of her dreams, and she loved him. She'd vowed that no man would come between them. And she meant it.

She'd ensure Damien wouldn't get close to her anymore. She'd make sure those feelings within her would completely disappear.

Tapping her pen on the desk, she bit her lip and closed her eyes.

(Laura)

Laura stared at Lucas as he ordered their meal. Sighing, she noticed he was good-looking. Not bad, she thought.

"You love this place?" He asked after the waitress had left with their order.

Laura nodded. "It's calm and beautiful." She smiled.

"I brought you to the best in this town." He smiled.

"I didn't know you were the type who eats outside often, I mean, Your mother wouldn't let you." She said.

He chuckled, "I live alone."

"Oh," she said. He looked like a mummy's boy. She thought.

"Maybe you can drop by one of these days to make me a meal. I'm a bad cook." He smiled.

Laura smiled back. "We'll see about that."

The waitress brought their meal.

"Thank you." Laura told her.

The waitress nodded and left.

They began to eat.
Laura loved the meal and she sat quietly as he made conversation. Telling her how his day had been.

She nodded once in a while, that way he'd feel she was indeed listening.

"I love how hard you work." She said with a nod and drank some water.

"Thanks, Laura." Lucas smiled.

"I wish I can see your face everyday. Your beauty just gets me."  He added.

Laura, pretending to be flattered, smiled. "Thanks."

She desperately wished their date would be over.
She had no idea why she thought they were not a pair. She figured they were different and had nothing in common. They couldn't even hold conversation. Those were red flags. She thought.

Finally their date was over and he drove her home.

Her mother came out to meet them, calling Lucas son in law which made her so uncomfortable. She needed to let her mom know she and Lucas were not working.

(Ruby)

Moving from the blinds, Ruby sat in the swivel chair. She had to work overtime. She told herself. And just when she was checking their latest visual update on her computer, she heard a knock.

"Come in." She said.

"Working late, Miss?"

She noticed Damien at her door and sighed. She'd made sure to avoid him. She'd created distance, yet there he was in her office. He just wouldn't stop bothering her, would he? She thought.

Damien set the coffee on her table and smiled at her.
"Can I sit?" He asked.

She nodded. "You need something?"

"Nope, just missing you. It looks like you've been avoiding me lately." He looked at her once he'd sat in the chair.

"Yes, I think It'll be best for us. We need to keep our distance." She said firmly.

Damien sighed.

Ruby looked at him. Still stunned, this was the same ugly and dumb boy in her class. Who ever thought she'd have feelings for him?

"It's not good to keep fighting against what your heart and body wants, Ruby." He said.

He took out some pictures and laid them on the desk, in front of her.

Ruby looked at them. They were her pictures. Had this guy been stalking her? He had almost her lifetime pictures. She looked at him suspiciously.

"I've never been able to get you outta my head, Ruby. I've always loved you." He said softly.

She looked at him. Couldn't say a word.

"You remember I told you we'll meet again? Here we are, with you sitting right in front of me." He continued.

Ruby just looked at him.

"I also told you, you're going to love me back. And we're destined to be together."

She scoffed, "Stop deceiving yourself, Damien. We're never going to be together. Get that out of your head." She said.

Damien chuckled and looked at her, "We are. Let's see how you'll be running into my arms very soon." He stood up and walked to the door. "I'll be waiting for that day, Rousseau." He smiled and walked out of her office.

When the door shut, Ruby sighed. The guy had been crazy since forever. She thought.
