"Yes, ma'am, and you can check these ones too." Laura said with a smile. She was glad someone was coming for the woolen cardigans she'd insisted her dad order.

The store was now doing good. Their boss was really working hard and all thanks went to him and the other departments.

She took the woman to inspect the woolen cardigans. Showing her the different sizes and colours. She couldn't wait for her to order the whole bulk. She grinned.

"They're beautiful." The woman said.

"They sure are." Replied Laura with a nod.

After the orders were placed and the logistics ready to transport the goods, Laura sighed with joy.

"You look very happy." Ruby approached her.

She turned to her with a broad smile. "I am. We're really working hard. I'm so proud of all of us. Daddy will be so happy." She hugged Ruby.

"Yeah, sure. Can you get off me now?" Ruby joked.

Laura giggled and pulled away.

Ruby chuckled at her sassy friend. Always lively and free spirited. She loved her. Had loved her the very first day they became roommates in college.

"What's up with you?" Laura asked.

"Nothing special. Just bored."

"You, bored?" Laura asked, surprised. "I never thought you could ever get bored at work."

Ruby shrugged. "I wouldn't be if I wasn't constantly asked to fix things."

Laura chuckled. "Think he likes you."

"What, how's that possible? He's just annoying." Ruby rolled her eyes.

"Maybe he's been that because he can't express his feelings." Laura said with a shrug.

"Stop this nonsense. I'm off to my office." Ruby said and left before Laura could come up with other thoughts. And moreover, she didn't want to think about them either.

Ruby smiled at her friend as she watched her leave. With a sigh, she raised the pad in her hand to her face and began to scribble down something.

Laura had told her parents what was happening at the office and like she assumed her father was very happy.

"Don't you think it's too much to be stressing yourself with work? Why not stay home and have someone do the work?" Her mother said.

"Not again, mom. We've already talked about this." Laura said, looking sternly at her mom as she raised an eyebrow.

"I don't like seeing my princess working so hard." Her mother insisted.

"What was the essence of schooling then, mother, if not for working."

"It's for money. And you have your dad covered on that. You don't have to worry about anything."

"Mother?" She arched an eyebrow at her again, sounding serious.

"When are you getting married too? No boyfriend, you know you're not getting any younger."

"Mom, really!" She snapped. Angry, she stood up and left for her room.

"Come on, Doris. Don't be so hard on her." Her father said.

"What did I do? I was just saying a fact." She shrugged, surprised that her husband saw something wrong with what she'd said.

"Just be gentle with her and give her time. I'm sure she'll bring a man home soon." He said.

Doris sighed. "If you say so."
