(Ruby)

Laura's mother had called Ruby early in the morning to inform her Laura was unwell and that Ruby had to go with Damien on the trip.

"I'm not letting you go on that trip." Andy stopped Ruby from packing her things in the suitcase.

"Andy..." She looked at him.

"Can't someone else at the office go with him?" He said, sternly.

"Mr. Benson wants me to go, and what's wrong with that, anyway?"

"I just don't trust that guy." Andy replied.

"This is work, Andy."

Andy sighed. "Whatever. Do as you wish." He said, heading for the door.

"Andy...?" She called after him, but he slammed the door in her face.

Ruby sighed.

(Laura)

"How are you feeling now, Laura?" The doctor asked.

Laura nodded as she looked at her parents who were looking at her with sad faces. "I'm better. I don't think any of you should worry."

"I've been telling you to stop working and stay at home, but you wouldn't listen. Look at how you've been stressing yourself." Doris said as she touched Laura's face.

"Relax, mom. I can't stop working and you know that. At least if you don't want me to be working somewhere else, helping dad at the office is okay." Laura said.

"You don't need to stress yourself, Laura. You need rest." The doctor said. "And take your medicines regularly, on time."

Laura nodded. "Sure."

"I'll make sure she does." Doris assured him.

With a nod, he excused himself and left.

"My princess." Doris hugged Laura affectionately.

Laura hugged her back, tightly and sighed.

(Ruby)

Ruby and Damien had arrived at the hotel. It had such a beautiful scenery and the rooms were spacious.

Ruby unpacked her things into the wardrobe and sat on the bed. She looked around, loving everything she saw in the room.

Once she was done with everything, she headed to the bathroom to take a shower and get ready for lunch with the business partners.

Putting on a dress, she fixed her hair and sat on the bed. She had to call Andy. She thought.

The call went through but he didn't answer. Probably still angry with her. She thought and decided to send him a message.

(Ruby)

Impressed with how Damien talked with the three men,  Ruby didn't realize she'd been smiling all along.

The men surely found him smart and were indeed convinced to partner with them.

Damien would glance her way, and she'd automatically look away. She didn't know why she felt uncomfortable with him looking at her. She didn't want to squirm with those eyes on her.

When dinner was finally over and they'd left, hoping to start their partnership deal the next day, they left for their rooms.

Damien's room was close to her's so her followed her.
With him behind her felt uneasy, she had to quicken her steps hoping to avoid him.

In front of her room, before she could turn the knob he called after her.

"Ruby..."

She looked at him. "Yeah?"

"Goodnight." He said softly and entered his room.

Standing by the door, Ruby sighed. She wished she hadn't avoided him. She wanted to talk.

Shaking herself, she turned the knob and entered her room. Hoping Andy had either called back or left a message.
