(Laura)

It had been days and Laura had been seeing Lucas, to please her mom. She still saw that he was not the right guy for her.

She walked to her parents who were watching TV at the hall. She was going to tell them how she felt and she hoped they'd understand.

"Mom. Dad." She said as she sat beside them.

"Yes, dear." Henry said. His focus still on the TV.

"I want to tell you something." Laura said, nervously.

Doris looked at her, panicked. "What's the problem? Are you okay? I've always been telling you to take your medications on time...."

"Mother!" She shouted.

Doris calmed down. Henry nodding at her.

"I'm fine." Laura said. "Why do you always act this way?"

Doris looked at her sadly. "I just want you to be okay." She said softly.

"I'm okay. I just wanted you guys to know that I can't go on with Lucas. I want to break up."

"What? You're not serious, are you?" Doris said.

"I'm serious, mother. I don't think he's the right guy for me." Laura said.

"Has he hurt you? What did he do?" Henry asked.

Laura shook her head. "Not like that. He's done nothing. He's actually a great guy."

"Then, what's your problem?" Doris asked, confused.

"We're just different. We are not working."

"You will. Just give yourself time. It's two different people that make a couple." Henry said.

"I don't think we can be a couple, dad. I don't have feelings for him." Laura tried to explain.

"You're going to end up a nun if you keep rejecting all the guys who come your way, Laura. Get to know him more, I'm sure he's the best choice for you." Doris said.

Laura sighed. Why was it so difficult for her parents to agree with her? Did they want her to marry someone she didn't love? She looked at them.

(Ruby)

"You're still up?" Andy shifting on the bed looked at Ruby who was apparently thinking.

She looked at him. "I can't sleep." She shrugged. "Just up and watching you snore your nose out."

Andy chuckled. "That's a lie. You know I don't snore."

Ruby smiled at him.

"What have you been thinking about lately, you don't look yourself." He said as he sat up.

"Nothing. I'm okay." She told him.

"You're sure about that?" He asked her.

Ruby nodded.

"Come here." He pulled her into his arms. "Let me sing you a lullaby."

Ruby chuckled. "Sure."

Pulling the covers around them, they laid in bed, Andy's fingers stroking her hair as he sang her a soft song.

He had a nice voice. She smiled as she listened to him. Slowly, she drifted to sleep.

        **********

Damien had told Laura she was to go on a trip with him to meet with some business partners.
They were going to stay two days at a hotel, as their potential investors were flying into the country on Wednesday.

"Isn't that amazing, Ruby? Two days with Mr. Handsome." She squealed.

"You really like him that much don't you?" Ruby asked, looking at her with an eyebrow lifted up.

"I can't help it. He takes my breath away." Laura grinned.

"You're going on a business trip and not on a date, Laura. And I bet he wants you to tag along because you're the CEO's daughter and knows a lot about the business." Ruby said calmly.

Laura looked at her, "Why do you sound like you're jealous?" She asked.

Ruby gave a nervous laugh. "Why would I be? I'm not obsessed with him like you are."

Laura nodded." Noted. I don't think I can sleep a wink tonight."

Ruby rolled her eyes.
"You've got Lucas to be thinking of." She said.

"I broke up with him. Yesterday." Laura stated.

"What, what's wrong with you?" Ruby couldn't believe it.

"He's not the right one." Laura shrugged.

"How could he be the right one for you when you have eyes on another man. " Ruby said.

"Breaking up with him is actually good luck you know. See how it's bringing me together with Damien." She smiled.

"There's something wrong with you." Ruby said and shook her head.

(Ruby)

"Yes, mother." Ruby said into the phone. "I'm fine."

"Andy told me you've not been yourself of late."

"Oh, so he's gossiping huh?"

"What's wrong?" Her mother asked, ignoring the statement.

"I'm okay, mom. Don't worry. It's just stress." She lied.

"Then take some days off. Stress is not good for your health."

"Yes, mother." Ruby said, rolling her eyes.

Her mom sighed. "Take care of yourself, honey. And, you can tell me anything if there's a problem. I'm always here."

Ruby hesitated for a while before answering. "Yes, mom." She sighed. " Talk to you later." She hang up.

She really wanted to talk to her mom, but figured there was no need. She could handle things herself. She hoped.
