My best friend
Miyeon's POV:
Mingyu kept stealing glances at me during class. It became awkward when our eyes met once or twice. He even asked, eyeing me suspiciously. "Whatever you did yesterday was real right? It wasn't magic was it?"
"I told you not to make a big deal out of it." I just shrugged it off.
"Are you a witch?"
"Yes I'm and if you don't shut up now, then I'm going to cast a dark magic spell on you and make sure that you die a slow, painful and miserable death."
"Screw you evil witch." He murmured, gritting his sharp teeth.
"Burn in hell Mingyu." I replied, loud enough for him to press his palms against his ears.
His doubts were growing more and more, like weeds in a neglected tomb. He doesn't know what he's getting himself into by asking me things which I'm reluctant to answer.
He doesn't know that it might end up taking everything from him; including his life.
I know I'll end up confessing my real identity to him one day but just not now. The time hasn't come yet. If I spit everything now I might put the lives of the people around me in danger.
Those ruthless monsters won't hesitate to kill anyone to get to me.
Not even a 17 years old innocent boy.
I was brought back to reality as soon as I heard Mrs. Song, "Class we've a new transfer student from American. Introduce yourself." I let out a small gasp of disbelieve when I saw a very familiar figure standing right infront of my eyes.
"Hello everyone. My name is Liu Xin. I'm Chinese and I moved from America. I hope we'll get along well." The corners of her lips curled up, lifting her distinct cheekbones high.
That killer smile.
The smile I was yearning for ever since I left for Korea.
It's her. My best friend.
(A/N: I just love Liu Xin from youth with you season 2. So I added her up as Miyeon's best friend and someone's girlfriend. That someone is a secret;) )
After the class she came to me, her hands shoved inside her pockets and that signature killer smile."Miss me?" I didn't utter a single word. Instead, I pulled her a into a really tight hug, almost suffocating her I guess. "Is this really you XinXin? Am I dreaming?" I said between the hug.
"You bet it is. Aww my Yeonyeon I missed you so much." She said, loosening the hug. "Why didn't you inform me that you are coming to Korea? I could've picked you up from the airport." I lightly hit her arms, pretending I was mad. Too bad I sucked at pretending.
I even sucked at brushing my hair properly, pretending never entered the chatroom.
"I wanted to surprise you. Simple." A pleasing grin appeared on her face. I didn't know if it was just me but she became even more pretty. Well glowup matters.
"You grew more girl. Look at those legs and muscles. Have you been working out lately?" I nodded. "Yeah secretly. Can't let Jeonghan know. It's my battle afterall. He should stay away. You too young lady." She knew which battle I was talking about, so she patted my back encouragingly.
She didn't say anything verbally, but her eyes kept on chanting, "Please be careful."
I decided to spend the whole day with her. After school I took her to the most photogenic places in Seoul. She's obsessed with photography. It's more like her passion than just hobbies to kill time. She's surprisingly good at it too.
We went for some jajjangmyeon after that. It was her first time trying it. Food maybe one of those reasons she moved to Korea. In fact, food is the only reason why I'm staying here with my brother. They give me nice foods for free.
The best thing for me about living with alot of people is that I don't have to cook or clean on a daily basis. When you have helping hands, you can just divide the task with everyone. It's actually more convenient than living alone in a foreign country all by yourself.
Or you can simply make a thousand groundless excuses, lay in your bed with your laptop and Netflix, skip all the pressure, relax and chill like you owe this piece of land, sleep like an unbothered Snorlax.
Like me.
I ain't much of a Masterchef, nor I'm a fan of busy places like the kitchen.
I'm just a sleepy girl, trying to figure out what to do with this supernatural life.
Right after our bowls of jajjangmyeon arrived, she put a huge amount of noodles in her mouth. She was battling hard to chew it all. At the same time she was making many gestures with her entire body trying to explain how good it tasted. Her childish activities caused me to titter.
I started telling her all about my life in Korea. About the boys. About my fight with Mingyu. About how he pissed me off. About him suspecting me for something that is absolutely abnormal in this normal world.
"Seems like you are falling heads over heels for him." She said grinning widely. "No." I replied with a poker face while scrolling through my Instagram feed. "What do mean by no?" She asked tilting her head to the side.
"I mean no. You want to hear it in Spanish? Noh."
"Okay okay I get it." She continued slurping her noodles.
There's something I must mention about Xinxin. I met her in America. We started getting along with each other at a great speed. She's the kind of friend that stayed right by my side even though both of us knew it was life risking. The one who knew everything about me besides my family. The one who protected me and acted like my shield when I was being hunted in America.
She taught me how to control my anger through countless meditations and ways of her own. Though I failed in that field terribly right after I stepped in Korea. She's more like a family to me now. Just like a sister.
We talked about alot of stuffs, mostly random. I showed her the pictures of the boys. I was taking a lot of time memorizing their names so they sent me a picture of them with their names. I was showing her the picture of the China line. Her eyes were glowing and lips twitched when I showed her The8's pic.
"He's so cute. Totally my type." She mumbled underneath the breath but too bad I heard it. "Ahem aheem. Already in love?" I cleared my throat by faking a cough, poking her cheeks with my fingers. "N-no. Of course not.I was just admiring." She scratched her neck, her cheeks flushing red.
How cute is that.
"I'll introduce you to him in person later okay?" She shyly nodded. It was already dusk, so we decided to end our day with a small walk by the river side.
I ran to my room after returning home. To be more precise, I ran to my bed. I laid on it with my phone after a quick shower.
Just then, I got a text from Joshua.
Text message:
Hong Jisoos: Heyy Miyeon! Wanna hangout with me after school tomorrow?
Me: Sure. I'll wait outside the school gate.
Hong Jisoos: Okay I'll pick you up. Sleep tight Yeonnie <3
I can't lie. I did blush a little at the last text.
Me: You too Joshy.
I shut my phone and turned the lights off. My eyes soon became heavy and you can guess what happened next.
(Next thing she knew. She fUcKed Up)
