Chapter Four: The squip squad

During the whole ride, we would pass by shops then Michael would point out some facts about them and whether it was haunted or not. The window was rolled down because the airconditioning didn't work so we had to bare with the wind that I bet will soon mess our hair up. We passed by a sushi place where he told me what and what not to get if I didn't want any stomach problems. Next was a gaming store, he recommended the secret yet amazing out of print games. Then went another convenience store, he told me what exactly to say for me to get a mountain dew red but he mostly got his at Spencer's gifts instead. As we arrived, I placed the remaining churros into my bag and hopped out as I waited for Michael to stop the car and do the same. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair again. This was actually my first time skipping class. I was bold enough to do it on the first day in a foreign school and not back to where I was familiar but as I said, schools in the Philippines are strict. Not to mention, there were things like violations and strikes. Major and minor. 3 minor violations is equivalent to a major and 3 major violations may result to getting expelled. And trust me, I was close to getting kicked out but that's a story for another time. I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Michael slam the door shut, the car making a beeping noise as a sign that it was locked with the windows rolled up "What'ya thinking about?" Michael walked around the Cruiser to get to where I was while taking another sip of his slushie that never seemed to have lessened. I shook my head, saying it was nothing as I nodded towards the school "We better get going before anyone would notice that we were gone" I started to walk with him by my side. He took his phone out of his jean pocket "We're only like..." He looked at for a second before stuffing it back in "5 minutes late for lunch, it'll be fine. Jeremy probably notified the Squip squad that I would be showing you around school. Well, we did go a lil bit far off school grounds but hey, atleast you know enough not to get lost around town" "Squip squad?" "Yeah! It's just us who's been squipped! Well except for me obviously but like Jer, Chris, Chloe, Brooke--" He stopped as he noticed I was giggling "Hey! I didn't think of the name!" He rolled his eyes, smiling and stared at me for a second "What? There something on my face?" I squint my eyes at him while patting my cheeks. He shook his head and told me that my hair was just all messy from the wind. "Well yours aint any prettier" I grinned as he looked at a random car's sideview mirror "Oh well, I guess we gotta look all scruffy together then" he grinned back while we continued on

"Alright so do we--" I was gonna ask if we should be quiet and sneak inside but Michael answered my question by opening the door confidently as if we weren't gone out for an hour just to get a slushie. "Oh" I stood there dumbfounded while he bowed in exaggeration "after you" I rolled my eyes as I stepped in, with him following. Surprisingly, no one even cared. Although halfway through the hallway, people were starting to stare. Maybe it was the fact that we wore similar clothing to the point we might look like a couple... or maybe because Michael was holding my hand. Why. How. When. What.

He noticed my gaze and quickly drew his hand away and put it inside his hoodie pocket "S-sorry! Force of habit" I smiled, moving to him closer and linked arms with him instead which caught him by surprise. I glance up at him "Sorry, force of habit" I laugh a little as I saw his reaction and turned my attention to the path we were walking on, ignoring all the stares we were getting.

"Okay okay so I had his bandana, right? I put it on top of the locker and poor guy didn't notice! Once he did, he couldn't even get it without hopping like a lil bunny" Jake wheezed and put an arm around his short buddy "I didn't need to hop like a bunny to reach it!" Rich hissed at his friend "But tell them, tell them how you got it" Jake managed to get out in between his snorts "...Mr Reyes offered me a foot stool" This made the whole squad roar with laughter while Jeremy coughed and spat his milk out. With him being in between Jake and Christine, they both rubbed his back, still giggling, thinking that it was from laughing too hard but Jeremy shook his head, tapped Christine and nodded at the cafeteria door where Michael and Katherine just entered while their arms were still linked together. "Yo, Mell!" Jake waved at the tall geek while Brooke scooted for the two to join them.

Once we entered the cafeteria, I saw a group of kids laughing out loud at their table. Then I saw Jeremy was a part of them, along with the guy named Jake and the other three I met earlier. Jeremy had milk dripping down his mouth and wiped it with a napkin while he nodded at our direction. "Yo, Mell!" Jake smiled and waved at Michael and to me. I realized I was still linking arms with him so I dropped mine while we approached the small group which seemed to be the 'Squip squad'. "Hey guys" Michael smiled and sat down. He looked up at me and patted the side beside him for me to sit down too. I did and I was in between Brooke and him. "You must be Katherine! Chloe, Brooke, Rich and Jeremy told me, it's so nice to finally meet you! I'm Jake, this is Jenna and Christine" He pointed at the two girls I wasn't familiar with yet while putting his hand out for me to shake. I took his hand and smiled. My eyes diverting to the girl beside Jeremy. Ah, Christine. Now I know why he was simping, coz honestly same. "Katherine! We thought you wouldn't make it since Jeremy told us Michael would show you around the campus" Brooke smiled at me while Michael and I set our lunch down "So did you show her the janitor closet too?" Rich grinned, looking at our disheveled hair. Jake smacked the back of his head while Michael explained that we were out on his Pt cruiser and how he bumped into me at Sev elev "Wow, on the first day Katherine? That's pretty bold of you" Christine laughed as Jeremy shook his head "Michael, I thought I told you to show her around the SCHOOL not around the TOWN" "Oh calm down, Jeremy. It looked like the two had fun. Plus, we're all tired of how you and Christine are the only couple in this group, so why not give them a chance" Chloe winked and took a sip of her juice "Hey!" Jeremy and Christine said in unison while Michael threw a napkin at her and I just sat there with wide eyes "I'm joking!" She laughed and turned to me "So Katherine, why don't you tell us about yourself?"
