"Okay, so. You all ready?" Jake smacked his hands together as he stood in front of the huge flat screen tv. Cheers and claps erupted and Jake plopped down between Jeremy and Chloe on the couch as he turned the tv on with the remote he was holding, switching over to Netflix and typing in his log in info. "Hold up!" Katherine yelled from the kitchen as she waddled over with a bowl of chips in her arms.
Jake had a soft sectional sofa in the middle of the giant living room of his house. Jenna sat with her legs resting on the cushions next to Chloe who Jake had his arm around. Beside him was Jeremy holding hands with Christine and Rich sat on the right side of the sofa. Brooke sat on the floor with her back against Chloe's legs as Michael also sat on the floor in front of Christine.
Katherine was about to sit beside Brooke but Rich jumped up. "Uhh, why don't you sit in my spot?" "Oh, that's okay. Really, I can just sit beside Broo-" Katherine raised her hand and waved it as disapproval when Rich quickly made his way over to Brooke and sat down. "Too late, better take my seat then. Besides, the fries are here so" He shrugged, reaching over to grab one from a separate bowl.
The filipina nodded in confusion and turned over to the couch. "Hey" "Hey" Michael smiled as they softly greeted, scooting over. She plopped down with her resting against the back pillows. Christine grinned as she gave a her a low-five and shook her hand then afterwards, grabbing a handful of chips. Rich turned back to Katherine while he chewed.
"Could you throw me a pillow?" "Yeah, sure" "Could you give it to me gently next time?" "You said throw"
Lights around us went dim as Friday the 13th played on screen. The only sound you could hear is audio emitted from the movie, moving of bowls and the crunching sounds of food. Michael shifted in his spot, wanting to lean back on something without bothering the girl behind him or seem creepy. Katherine noticed this and kicked him lightly him with her sock covered foot to scoot over to her. He hesitated for a moment before he obliged. Michael leaned back but not fully dropping his weight on her.
Bowls, cups and bottles were passed around as their eyes were glued on the screen. Rich jumped a bit during the whole thing but to his luck, no one besides Brooke noticed which made them link arms with each other as they were labeled as the ones who wouldn't survive the night. Jeremy and Christine cuddle up in a blanket, Jake had his arm around Chloe as Jenna leans a bit on her while they shared a bowl of Lays.
Katherine crossed her legs on the sofa as Michael moved back a bit more, hugging his legs close to his chest. When Christine had the bowl they were sharing, Katherine's hands made it's way up to Michael's gel-less hair. Smoothing out tangles with one and later on unconsciously massaged his scalp with both.
The geek melted into her touch as he felt drowsy each minute she ran her fingers through his locks, wanting to fall asleep in her arms. The cuddle they had ran through his mind. Ever since that, Katherine had been avoiding him physically and not the five feet apart social distancing way. Their friendship went from level eight to level four real quick, back to where they were just acquaintances.
But right now, right now felt good. Michael missed hanging out with Katherine and even the small affectionate gestures she gave him whenever they did. He didn't want that moment to end as his mind was fixated on her because for all he could know, that would be the last time they'd ever be that close again.
Michael shifted closer, his back resting against the sofa. He hugged his legs closer as he held a small portion of the fabric of his jeans tight, tempting to squeal like a school girl. Even if the room was filled with suspenseful music, the only thing he heard was his heart beating rapidly.
A frown made it's way to his face as he felt her fingers parting away. He turned around, his brows furrowed. Katherines eyes were glued onto the screen, paying no attention to the pouting puppy in front of her. Michael tilted his head back that rested on the soft cushion and against the back of her hand. He shook his head as if brushing her with his hair, acting like a dog who craves attention.
