The halls were crowded as always, familiar faces roamed around. Pushes and shoves were given unintentionally, or so they thought. The guy in the grey jacket had his hoodie up, blocking his face from all the students who passed by. All he could focus on was finding his math homework as he ruffled through his locker.
"You really think she's related to headphone wearing geek?" Nick squinted his eyes as his ears perked up. He turned his head, following everyone else's gaze which lead to someone with a red hoodie on. Her face was unrecognizable by the fact she had glasses, bangs and her hood over her head. It wasn't someone he knew, nor was it someone anyone else knew.
"Uhm, pardon? Can I get to my locker?" She had a quite funny accent. She definitely isn't american nor white. It wasn't really a bad accent, but it just doesn't sound really american. He blinked at her as the three out of five most assholes in school gave way for her without giving her a bad look.
The squipcident really made an impact for most students who took the pill. Chloe and Rich, despite still calling Michael a geek, befriend him since he basically saved all of them. The whole squad did too. And that made Nick despise him, for he was a nobody himself. How does a loser like Michael Mell end up in a top position almost the same as the Chloe Valentine, Brooke Lohst, Rich Goranski, Jenna Rolan and Jake Dillinger.
Maybe the others were right, people change but sadly, not all of them do. Seeing as the brunet always envied alot of people and now he's envious of a guy who he was in the same popular peer as, unaware if Michael actually cared about his own social status or not.
Their eyes met for a brief second but already made Nick's heart skip a beat. He found himself staring at her as his hand wonders around the rectangle metal space, getting a hold of the notebook he was searching for. Her attention was somewhere else as Goranski tried to hit on her, making him snort at the little guy's attempt to flirt her up. The disgust and confusion on her face amused him as he thought that she was hating them as much as he did, wondering if her acceptance of Chloe's invite at lunch was sincere.
As soon as the other students left when the bell rang, he stood still and pretended to still fix his locker. When they were the only ones in the area, his lips parted to speak when a certain Jeremy Heere cut him off. ""Was Rich flirting with you again? You gotta go out with him, Michael. It's not like you're gonna get a girlfriend sooner or later-" "Do I look like a Michael to you?"
'Idiot doesn't even know the difference between his boyfriend and someone with a vagina'
Nick shook his head and closed the small metal door, walking away to his first class with the image of the girl he hadn't had the chance to talk to, stay in his mind.
-
"Class...CLASS. Settle down now, this is Katherine, she moved from the Philippines and would be studying here from now on. Now be nice, I don't want to hear anything coming from the principal's office" Nick's head snap up as he saw the girl again. The pen he was holding tapped on the table repeatedly as the class was asked if there were any empty seats. His head turned to his left, making him blush as it was the only vacant one in the room.
His expression, however, dropped when he noticed who sat beside that chair. Mell. It didn't make him feel any better that the rest of the class were already teasing them together. I mean, they couldn't be related, could they? They're somewhat alike yet so different, seeing as both of them had a Philippines and rainbow flag on a similar red hoodie.
He didn't mean to but he stared at her at the corner of his eye during the whole hour. All she did was either write down notes or doodle some random shit. When their teacher left, she had her head down with earbuds on. Yet again, he tried to talk to her but Michael already beat him to it. Clenching his jaw, he started drawing on the back of his notebook like what little school girls do.
