CHAPTER 29
Puccini – Si, mi chiamano Mimì (La bohème)//
Hoseok talked back. i couldn't process what was happening as he stared at my mother, directly in the eye.
"she'd like to stay here with me."
my mother remained blank, "my daughter can speak for herself thank you very much."
then i spoke, pushing Hoseok slightly as my hand laid on his stomach. "i want to stay here." i stated, trying my best to stare at my mother in the eye. it was destructive to look at the one who gave birth to me and didn't try enough.
"it wasn't a question. i want you to come home with me."
"i'm staying."
"fine."
my mother walked away, head held high as she went home. i was proud of myself for saying no. i realised that it was okay to do that, the word is sometimes needed.
"i'm here if you need me."
Hoseok kissed me and the butterflies in my stomach were going crazy. on some days, they're calm but today they tingled.
i went home soon after. my parents were waiting for me in the main room. the news was accompanied by the silence.
my father spoke first, "no badminton or supermarket trips."
i gulped harshly. i won't be able to leave the house at all.
i do badly wanted to speak up for myself but my throat was constructed. you can't keep me locked forever.
"okay father."
