CHAPTER 31
Shostakovich – Romance (The Gadfly, Op. 97)//
i ran away from Es today. it turns out i love running.
we arranged to meet up at the back of his dance studio. "hey," i breathed out. i don't know why i was surprised he came. i think it was because i was wondering why he'd put so much effort into someone who's being shielded. "you came." i said, keeping my distance.
"i needed to see you."
"Hoseok, you can't keep doing this."
"doing what?"
i stammered with my words. "waiting for me, waiting for something you don't deserve." he deserves someone who can spend time with him freely.
"this isn't worth it." i whispered.
"it isn't?"
"not for you." i said, grasping his hand. "you're going to be so tired of this, of me."
"i can't imagine i ever will be..." he trailed off, brows furrowing in confusion at what i was telling him. i didn't realise until now that he is a fighter.
"why are you waiting for me?"
"because i know you'd do the same for me too."
i missed his hand, the back of it as his eyes closed. "i come with troubles and storms and you should save yourself."
he shook his head, brown hair shaking. "i don't want easy... i want you."
"we don't even know how long this will last for."
he brought me into his chest and hugged me. he was crying and i felt numb. "that's okay."
