Amber's P.O.V

I knew immediately that this girl was not to be trusted; she had an otherworldly glow to her. Have you ever looked at a person and they looked wrong to you as if they looked too human. That's how I felt seeing this girl standing beside Nico holding a tissue to his bleeding nose.

"Nothing to see here people, don't worry, just go on your way," she said. To my surprise, they did. Those who had stopped to help immediately turned around, got in their cars and drove off down the left side of the highway, the part that wasn't being blocked by our car. As well as a red porch, which had clearly plowed right into the side of us. It was as if someone had violently jerked their wheel in an attempt to run us off the road.

"That's your car," I say, probably way too harshly, but I could tell that something was wrong, and it was putting me on edge. My mind was screaming at me, but everything seemed muddled, I must have hit my head.

"Oh gods, I am so sorry, I just, like, didn't see you. Must have been in my blind spot" The girl said, she brushed a loose strand of her hair out of her face while giving me a dirty look. Then she turned back to fawning over Nico.

My head was pounding, and I was sure I had some kind of a concussion, even if just a minor one. The feeling of electricity running up and down my spine did not help either.

"You know, you are very handsome, sweety," The girl said. My head snapped up to look at her incredulously. I mean really, she hits us with her car and then decides to flirt with Nico. The hell is wrong with this girl. Nico seemed to be thinking the exact same thing as me because he took a step back and looked at her in confusion.

"What"? he asks.

"Oh, don't get me wrong. I've had better, but sometimes they just look too good, you know. I mean, perfection is overrated, I want someone with a little substance." She replies. My head was spinning, and I found it hard to comprehend what she was saying. I brought my hand to my forehead, and when I looked at my finger, they were drenched in blood.

"What are you?" Nico asks. He reached for his sword, only to find it wasn't strapped to his waist anymore, he had to take it off to sit correctly in the car.

"I am Daisy,'' She states matter of factly. "What a silly question. Now stay still, I hate it when your kind run".

She grabbed ahold of Nico and slammed his head into the ground while she crawled over him. Nico raised his arms, trying to push her off, but to no avail, he did manage to poke her in the eyes. Which surprised her enough, and he crawled out from beneath her.

"My sword," He cried out to me.

"What," I say, stunned.

"It's the only thing that can kill her!" He yells at me. Daisy tries to grab him, but Nico rolls to the side, and scoops up some dirt, throwing it in Daisy's face.

"Kill her?" I cry out. Don't get me wrong, I did not like this chick blatantly flirting with Nico, but killing someone over that was just wrong.

"Yeah! She's a monster, Amber, don't you see!" Nico is screaming at me now as he is corralled away from where I, and the car, are by Daisy. She was trying to separate me and Nico.

"Oh, don't worry about that one. She can't see through the mist yet—a side effect of staying in hiding for so long. The longer you demigods deny the truth, the easier it is for us to trick you," Daisy says. She tries to grab Nico again, he sidesteps and shoves her hard. Daisy falls to the ground with a loud smack. However, she immediately gets back up.

"Now, don't be like that, sweety," Cackled Daisy. "Come back, and I'll be gentle... pinky promise."

"Amber," Nico cried out again as he rolled away from another lunge made by Daisy. That got me out of my shock, and I dove back into the car, scrounging around for Nico's sword amongst the glass and the oil leaking from the vehicle. I grab Nico's sword, and then my backpack of supplies as well.
