Nico di Angelo, Flowers of Death

Chapter 9

-Ambers P.O.V -

Oh gods what was I thinking?

Travis and Conner had warned me. But did I lesson, nope. I did something totally stupid, no matter how I feel about Nico.

"Stay away from Nico, you have no idea what your getting into. He doesn't like people" Travis had told me when I sat down next to him.

"Yeah. He is bad news Amber" Conner added while shoving French fries in his mouth.

Now I was sitting at the camp fire lessoning to kids singing about our grandma getting ready for war and putting armor on.

Conner sat on my right talking in hushed voices to Travis who sat beside him. We where in the back row farthest from the bonfire. I sat in the end of the log, the only person beside me was Conner.

I couldn't stop thinking about Nico. Was I really going to give away a secret that big to someone I just met? I thought of every possible outcome. 90% ended with me either dead or being taken away to be experimented on.

How bad could your secret be, for gods sake there is a half horse, half man here. Yours can't be worse then that, can it?

All of a sudden the music stopped. And the song was over, another one started to play.

I slowly and quietly slid off the log and into the shadows. Without anybody noticing. Making my way to the beach. I had no idea if Nico would actually show up.

I sat down on the cold sand looking at the lake. The moon reflected off the deadly calm water, the stars like little diamonds in the sky.

After about five minutes I heard foot steps from behind me. I turned around to see Nico stepping out of the shadows, which is kind of hot if you ask me. Gods what has come over me.

I smiled at him as he walked over and sat beside me.

"Hi" I squeaked, which was extremely embarrassing, I almost faced palmed myself for it.

"Hi" he replied.

So we sat there in the most awkward silence I have ever had. And that is saying a lot. Then after what seemed like and eternity, he spoke.

"How did you do it" I looked at him. "you know, get us to camp." My face turned white and I looked down at my feet. Embarrassed.

"I, uh, I" I took a deep breath.

It's now or never.

" I traveled through the flowers I know it sounds totally insane but I did my essences gets sucked into the flower and it travels through the ground I can appear anywhere in the world as long as I know where I am going but also I must come up out of the same flower as I left I know I probably sound crazy and stupid but it's true I swear that's why I have so many flowers in my garden I only found out about my power three months ago and each time I use it my energy drains the flowers consume it I just wish I had of known sooner it would have helped me when.." I stop my self before I can give any of my other secrets away. Then I realize I said all that with out stopping.

"I believe you" Nico replies. I was shocked, I had expected him to laugh and tell me I was insane, or call the cops, or kill me and leave me in a ditch. But I was not expecting this.

"Y-you do" I asked questioningly. He laughed, his laugh was electrifying, it sent a good kind of chill threw my body, his laugh made me feel alive.

"Of course! I went through the same thing when I found out I could shadow travel. At first I was scared but then I learned to master my ability, to control it.... but I have never heard of someone traveling through plants before" he seemed to be thinking about this for a while.

"Not plants, only flowers" I had once tried traveling through a tree, lets just say I had a huge bump on my forehead for the next week.

"Uh I mean the Demeter cabin is good with plants but there not that good." I nodded. Then off in the distance I heard someone yelling Nico's name. He shot right up, fear clear on his face.

"Oh gods no, quick get out of here, don't let her see you" I was startled, but I then turned around and scurried into the forest. I climbed up a tree and sat in a branch just in time to see a very pretty girl talking to Nico.

Even from this far she was gorgeous. Her brown hair was worn down with little braids done through out it. She was really tan, with an orange camp half blood t shirt and shorts.

I couldn't quite make out what they where saying but I saw here place a hand on Nico's shoulder. He nodded then walked away, the girl following close behind.

My heart dropped in my chest. Was that Nico's girlfriend? I climbed down the tree and looked in the direction they had gone in. Towards the bonfire, I could hear kids laughing and shouting as they made there way back to there cabins. Conner and Travis had told me

"What ever you do don't get caught out at night after curfew, the harpies will shred you"

Then I thought of the really pretty girl talking to Nico. About what would happen if I did fall asleep in the Hermes cabin. I turned away from the cabins and headed into the forest.

Also what's a good name for a sword that has to do with flowers and stuff cause I am stumped)
