KAELA
povIT'S BEEN A few days since I last encountered Benny, Not that I was keeping count or anything. I've been busy redoing my room, Not like, Painting it or anything. I'm just trying to rearrange it to make it feel new. Which was definitely going to take up the majority of my summer. It's about, I would say, 8 in the morning? I haven't checked the clock since I woke up.
Last night, All I remember is just eating dinner, getting ready for bed then slept. Nothing else, Surprisingly I didn't stay up reading a book, I guess I was just too tired to do anything.
I laid down flat on my bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. The ceiling fan was on it's lowest setting, Spinning slowly but still producing a generous amount of air. Today's Monday, I think. Since it's summer I haven't really cared about what day it is since they just fly by fast.
Out of nowhere, I got a sudden burst of energy, So I decided to go on a little stroll around the park. It's been a while since I've been out by myself, Which probably isn't good, But it helps my mind open more rather than all of my thoughts being trapped with absolutely nowhere to go.
As I got out of bed, I made sure to not step on Nala, who was soundly sleeping on my floor, She must've crawled out of bed last night. For some reason, she isn't really fond of sleeping in bed. I head over to my closet and get dressed properly for the cold weather outside.
Weird, It's cold and we're in summer. I don't quite understand how that's possible yet here we are. After dressing, I silently step out of my room and clutch my keys close to my chest, hoping they won't jingle. I slipped my shoes on then walk out of the house. I was greeted by a cool breeze and I deeply inhaled every bit of it. Nature, What a wonderful thing it is.
I probably should have eaten something before I left, It's not too late to turn back, But I already stepped down from the entrance and I wasn't planning to risk waking up the whole household. On the bright side, At least I brought some money. At this point I was really contemplating about going to the park, I guess I just wanted to go outside for a bit.
And then, I saw him. Benny. He walked out of his house, holding a bat. He was in his usual button-up shirt with a baseball tee underneath and his cuffed jeans. He didn't notice me at first, actually, he didn't notice me at all. I furrowed my brows a bit and walked a little faster to catch up to him then called out, "Hey Rodriguez!" hoping to get his attention.
It wasn't totally loud, I thought I'd have to say it again, This time a little louder, But he turned around a little startled by my voice, He squinted and it took him a moment to realize who I was. His body fully shifted in my direction and I caught up with him. I greeted him with a smile and he returned it.
"Morning!" I say in a cheerful tone.
He grinned, "Good morning. I never knew you wake up so early."
"Yeah, This is very rare of me. I went to bed early last night. Anyways, You heading out to play some ball?" I asked, jerking my head down at his bat. He nodded his head and parted his lips as if he was about to say something, But nothing came out.
He continued walking, I didn't know whether or not to follow him but he gestured me to come along. So now it was just us, In pure silence, Walking down a sidewalk.
At this exact moment, Awkward was a huge understatement to describe how I'm feeling this entire time. I looked around at the clear, gloomy sky. The sun was almost coming out, Which was good.
"Hey, Are you busy? At all today?" He finally asked, breaking the silence.
I glanced up at him, "Nope, Why are you asking?"
