Keeping a secret

Keeping a secret is hard. Especially for Noah. It was now December. 3 months after the Stranger Things Season 3 Premier.

NOAH
I stood in front of my phone, talking to my mom about the gang coming to New York.

Me: Yes mom...I will. I will bring the gang home for the holidays. Yes! It's my year! Yes...Finn will be there too!

I said as my phone was on the table. The call was on speaker so I could move around freely. No-one was home so I was safe.

My mom: Noah. You sound...hurt...

Me: Mom. It's nothing

My mom: You love him don't you?

Me: Love who?

My mom: You love Finn. I heard your tone change when I mentioned his name. You love him...

Me: Of course I love him! We were friends before the show even started and when we were both cast we found this as an opportunity to get closer as friends...but then we drifted apart...

As I thought about him, my heart pounded.

My mom: There's a problem. I can feel it

Me: Of course there's a problem. I'm gay and he isn't! Even if he was gay...he would never like me in that way. He sees me as just a friend...

My mom: What if he was gay and because your too afraid, you'd never find out...

Me: He isn't gay mom. Finn just doesn't date people. If Finn was gay, I would have seen the obvious signs...since I am gay myself...

MILLIE
I stood behind a wall, listening to a conversation.

"Yes mom...I will. I will bring the gang home for the holidays. Yes! It's my year! Yes...Finn will be there too!" Noah said, trying to get off the topic.

"Noah. You sound...hurt..." His mom spoke.

"Mom. It's nothing" Noah said, deflecting the subject.

"You love him don't you?" His mom asked with a bit of sass.

"Love who?" Noah asked, trying not to be obvious.

"You love Finn. I heard your tone change when I mentioned his name. You love him..." His mom spoke in a kind tone.

"Of course I love him! We were friends before the show even started and when we were both cast we found this as an opportunity to get closer as friends...but then we drifted apart..." Noah finally admitted.

"There's a problem. I can feel it" His mom spoke, sounding worried.

"Of course there's a problem. I'm gay and he isn't! Even if he was gay...he would never like me in that way. He sees me as just a friend..." Noah said. His voice was becoming shaky.

"What if he was gay and because you're too afraid, you'd never find out..." His mom asked.

"He isn't gay mom. Finn just doesn't date people. If Finn was gay, I would have seen the obvious signs...since I am gay myself..." Noah said, sounding upset.

Noah and his mom said their goodbyes and before long, the line went dead.

NOAH
"YOU LOVE FINN?!" Millie asked as she entered the room. I jumped in fright.

"How much of that did you hear?!" I asked, completely scared.

"Enough to know that your gay, which I suspected, and that you LOVE Finn!" Millie said, trying not to make fun of me.

"Quiet down Mills! I don't want the entire house knowing!" I said, shutting her up.

"Don't worry. The rest of the gang, especially Finn are out. They won't be home for hours..." Millie spoke.

For the next 2 hours, Millie and I talked about how I have a crush on him.

"You have to promise never to tell anyone! I don't want this secret coming out!" I said.

"I promise!" Millie said.

"Which means no hinting at it either!" I said.

Millie hugged me.

Just as we pulled away, the front door opened to reveal Finn, Gaten, Sadie and Caleb.

"What were you guys just talking about?" Finn asked.

"Celebrities!" Millie spoke.

"Movies!" I spoke at the same time as her.

Finn gave us weird looks.

"We were talking about celebrities and the movies they are in." I finally spoke.

"Ok...well. We brought home McDonalds!" Finn said happily.

We all sat down and at our food. I secretly watched Finn eat and Millie secretly watched me watch Finn...which was kinda creepy...in a meta sorta way.

I was tired so I got up.

"Night lover-boy." Millie said as she whispered in my ear. I nudged her and went off to bed.
