Out of all the men I met with the name Ara none of them had given my life an impact like Suho. I was head over heels in love with him and thought maybe this was the man I could see myself having a family with. Eighteen-year-old me was delusional because after he got married that was the end of my imaginary fairy tale.
The woman Suho got married to years ago isn't Micheng. He had married a Korean woman then. Meaning he got a divorce.
"Ara," Suho called my fake name. "I'm sorry for this inconvenience. Maybe we can talk about this some other time? I just can't right now because I'm working. How about we go somewhere and talk afterward?"
"By we, I hope you're implying all four of us," Winwin said.
"We can do that," Suho agreed. He then looked at Micheng. "Let's go back in and talk to your father."
"Dont do it," I grab Micheng's hand. She looked at me confusingly. "You won't win, Mimi. The odds won't be in your favor."
"Th-They will..." Micheng replied with uncertainty. "My husband is a lawyer... I can win this."
"You can't," Winwin starts, "Father has connections in law and you know this. They know he's a good guy and they sadly know your story. You're not gonna win this, Micheng."
Micheng was left speechless. I feel for her... I do.
"Mimi, please think about this again. I beg you. I know you're good... I know you are."
"I have to go."
Mimi removed my hand from hers and walked back into Mr. Dong's office with Suho.
I hug Winwin. "I'm so sorry."
"Munhee," Winwin cups my face. "This isn't your fault. You didn't know who she was so stop blaming yourself."
I turn away from Winwin's eyes. "I'm just always causing trouble for you..."
"Stop," Winwin shakes me. "You're a gem. We just have to hope my parents can fix this for everyone's sake. Only they can do it. Unless somehow Micheng changes her mind."
"I know but-"
A door slams.
I looked at Winwin and he looks at me. We walked towards Mr. Dong's office when we bumped into Mimi. She looked at us with tears in her eyes before she continued to run away.
"Micheng!" Suho shouts as he followed Mimi. "Micheng, wait up!"
I grab Suho's arm. "What happened?"
Winwin grabs Suho's other arm. "Did father do something?"
"No," Suho shakes his head. "She did... Micheng changed her mind."
"What?" we said in sync.
Suho then continued after Mimi.
Mimi changed her mind? I don't understand. She was so determined just a moment ago so what made her change her mind?
