It started with a Campfire (kataang)

Happily ever after

It had been 2 weeks since Aang defeated fire lord Ozai and Azula was put in an asylum.

KATARAS POV

I had been bed bound for a week and a half and luckily the doctors let me off early. I wanted to surprise everyone because they were told I'd be stuck in bed for 4 weeks and would most likely miss Zukos coronation. I had two days and I used them well. I had to avoid the Gaang as long as I could so that they wouldn't see me until the ceremony.

On my first day I ran down to the Taylor at 1:10, Because that's when Sokka forces everyone to go eat lunch, and put my dress request in. I wanted to look nice and show how much I've healed. I ordered a green long dress with droopy sleeves, with slits up the sides and it wraps at the top.

Yesterday I picked up the dress and ran back to the house and practiced my finder movements, I would have to move the joints around a lot if I wanted to bend again and build up the muscles. After I practiced some waterbending. I wanted to do a trick where I turn water into mist so I can spray everyone's faces.

Today was the day and Im so excited, I haven't seen Aang the whole time because he's been busy with his peace meetings and avatar stuff. I can't wait to see him again. I put the beautiful dress on, it was exactly what I wanted, I put my hair half up half down and slid a pink flower in. I quickly practiced the trick and did it perfectly. Today was going great already. Tho I still had a bandage on my thigh it was not visible, only thing was I have a little limp.

The ceremony began and I hid in plain sight. Zuko said his speech and knelt on the ground to receive the flame headpiece. The croud cheered, I did quietly. After zuko went around shaking hands and same with Aang, I talked to iroh privately about inviting the Gaang to the tea shop to surprise them. Iroh agreed and found all my friends and brought them up.

After a 30 minutes of the Gaang lounging around I decided it was time. I prepared the water behind my back and made my entrance. I stepped in the doorway and misted everyone. They all looked confused and looked back to me,

"Katara!" They all said, they went to hug me but hesitated, they were told not to hug me till my chest healed. We stood awkwardly till I said,

"Come on guys!" I hugged them and they all hugged me back, "I missed this." I said, even though it had only been 10 days, they were my family.

"Why are you out here, your supposed to be in bed!" Sokka said lightly shoving me towards the door,

I sprayed mist at him again,

"I got let out early because I was healing so fast." I giggled. I noticed I couldn't see Aang,

"Where's Aang?" I asked,

"He left to talk to some war minister he'll be back in 20 minutes he said." Suki answered.

I was disappointed but I shrugged, I got everyone in on my plan again and said pretend I'm not here and I'll get him like I got all you, everyone agreed.

I sat with Toph for the time being, she had finally gotten the bandages off her feet.

"How're your feet?" I ask,

"They are way better now, feels great to see things again. How's your thigh hole?" She said,

"Eh, still a hole but better now there isn't a rock in it." We laugh,

20 minutes flew past and I hid in the pantry of irons tea shop.

Aang walked in,

"Sorry everyone, earth kingdom war guy wanted to talk about the rubble in the city or somethi-" I cut him off by misting him in the face. He looked comfused and had the same reaction as everyone else did when they went to hug me, he hesitated and stopped. I hugged him, tighter than I ever had before.

"Wa-wait aren't you men-" he started,

"She got let off early, I said the same thing." Sokka said.

I was still holding onto Aang, he hugged me back.

"It's great to see you up and walking again," he said smiling down at me.

He had grown maybe 1 centimetre taller than me and he bragged all the time about it.

"It's great to see you again." I said.

"Ughhh," Toph sighed and fell back onto the couch she was sitting on. I giggled.

Everyone looked so nice, everyone was wearing kimonos or tunics or dresses. Mai and Suki we're playing pai shou, iroh was playing his sungi horn, Aang was playing with momo, zuko was handing out tea and Sokka was painting a picture.

"Zuko! Stop moving, I'm trying to capture the moment." He said "I wanted to do a painting, so we can always remember the good times together."

"Aw that's really sweet sok-" I saw his painting and, oh boi "why did you give me momos ears?"

"Those are your hair loopies!" She said pointing at the ink that was meant to be me,

"I look like a man," Mai said,

"And why did you paint me fire bending?" Suki asked,

"I thought it made it more interesting," momo screeched "what you think you can do better?" Sokka said to Momo,

"Hey, I'm not that big anymore I've really gymed out?" Iroh said,

"Well I think you all look perfect!" Toph waved her hands in the air, we all laughed.

I looked it to the sunset and saw Aang standing out on the balcony. I walked towards him and stood next to him for a bit. We met each others eyes and hugged, he was comfortable and warm, he made me feel safe. We pulled away and faced the sunset once more. I decided, the war was over, what did we have to loose anymore. I faced towards him, he turned to me also. Then I leaned in and I kissed him, it was incredible. He pulled me in tighter and I wrapped my arms around his neck. It was like a fairy tale, my own happily ever after, one that young girls would dream of. And Aang was my Prince Charming.

We pulled apart. The sun almost completely set and everything was becoming darker.

"I love you Katara, i always have and always will," Aang said,

"I love you too." I smiled.

We held hands and walked in,

"Have fun lovebirds?" Toph grinned,

Of course she felt that I thought

"Ewwww, oogieessss." Sokka mumbled,

"I think it's cute," Suki said warmly

Mai and zuko didn't care at all,

"Young love is so beautiful." Iroh said "I know your love will be life long, you have an un breakable bond, you developed this after the pain you endured together."

I smiled, a blush spreading across my face.

Finally, the world was somewhat at peace, even if there was some cleaning up to do. My friends were at peace, I was at peace. Every thing was looking up for our little Gaang. I finally have my own Happily ever after.

We've done it guys, 10 chapters of Kataang. It's over ☹️ but like I keep saying, a new fanfic is just around the corner.
