Floor 9
Variiya's PoV

We were a few minutes into the test, and I'm not sure if we were going around in circles or not.

First of all, the place was nearly pitch black, the faint glow of the Lighthouses made sure I wouldn't walk straight into a wall. This entire place was like a maze with endless corridors. We haven't encountered another team yet.

The exam would finish in 6 hours. If the area was this big then how would we find another team with the other rock?

Rachel was guiding Khun and me with her Lighthouse. Before, I never knew that Lighthouses were weapons as well. I thought that all they had were a bunch of computers inside a little square. This time, Khun would be attacking and fighting rather than supporting the battle. He learned to control and manage another Lighthouse, so overall he has 3 now.

"Do you even know where the exit is?" I asked the blue-haired boy beside me.

He shrugged, blue hair fluttering a bit from the breeze. "They said that it's in the center of the maze, and it'll only open if we present both stones."

I slumped my shoulders and groaned. This was going to take so long.

"There's someone following you." Rachel said. "Be careful,"

I cracked my knuckles, "Finally some fun." Then, I summoned my arms inventory to get my favorite jaded needle. I haven't been using it frequently because it got a crack on the 3rd floor. "Where are they, Rachel?"

"Around 30 meters behind you."

Khun made his Lighthouse glow brighter and readied his knife. "V.V., please don't do anything stupid."

I blew a strand of hair away from my face. "I don't stupid things, excuse me." I raised my needle just in time to parry a blow from a one-eyed man. A random thought popped up in my head. Does this guy blink or wink when he closes his eye? I pushed him back and brought a hand to my chin to figure that out. I mean, to blink is to close all of your eyes but to wink is to close one eye...

The one-eyed man lunged at me again. I simply just side-stepped to avoid him and looked at him again, a quizzical look on my face. So would that be considered blinking or winking?

"V.V.!" Shouted Khun who snapped me out of my train of thought.

"Shush, I'm thinking." I locked my blade with my opponent, forming a cross. I finally voiced my question to the one-eyed brown-haired man as he closed his eye. "Hey, when you close your eye, do you blink or wink?"

The entire fight just stopped. Everyone's eyes were on me. I had a feeling that Khun wanted to stab me as well. I smiled sheepishly, "This isn't the time to ask, I know, sorry! You can go try and kill each other now!"

As soon as I said that, the man I was fighting tried to attack me again, I easily deflected his advance. I laughed, triumphant, only to be interrupted by a loud crack.

I watched, horrified as the top half of my needle fell and landed on the marble floor with a clatter.

Okay, is this what I get for asking something so stupid? I asked the Tower gods if they could even hear me. I covered my mouth from disappointment, I swear I really liked this weapon and I'm going to cry
