Floor 14
Variiya's PoVI still go back and forth to Floor 11 and up to whatever floor we are right now to continue training with Mr. Etcetera Etcetera.
I was proud to say that my shinsu quality was more defined, small like a bullet. It was now a lighter shade of gray, warping like the wind with its surroundings, making it harder to see.
So that's why the Va Branch of the Kaitorin was hated; it's not because of our incompetence or anything. It was because of this inherited power that they all feared.
It was only the Vas out of the 31 other branch families who inherited my father's Wind shinsu quality. Though the branch families all have fighting and shinsu techniques based on wind, only the Vas can have their shinsu nearly invisible.
He was once a renowned Wave Controller when he was a Ranker. The higher I climbed the Tower, I saw how much no one remembered who he was. Jahad was surely desperate to erase the memory of his existence.
Khun has recruited a new member; a Spear Bearer named Gyetang. He was a large yellow bird and usually had a giant shuriken attached to the back of his clothes. Along with the other Spear Bearer, Novick, they taught me how to cook from time to time.
I started to spend more time with Gyetang, making his hopes and dreams about Endorsi crash and fall by trying to tell him her bad aspects. It was amusing, yet he was still persistent about meeting her, telling me her imperfections made her more perfect.
Along with Ran, we frequently had outdoor competitions to see who was the best amongst us. Gyetang forfeited after the first fight.
Right now, I was busy beating up the boys' asses.
Novick and Ran first charged at me, and I immediately weaved and dodged their blows. I wasn't using Lambent Light, Khun insisted I had to learn how to fight without using my weapons. I purposely fell to the ground, Novick pointing his spear down at me.
"We win," He said, breathing hard.
I grinned and pushed them away. "Oh, really now?" They slowly look up to see a thin layer of gray shinsu in a dome, covering all three of us. I waved a hand and protected myself with another veil. "Good luck boys," I teased as I sandwiched them with rainfall of baangs.
Novick wasn't lucky enough and got trapped in between, instantly knocking him out. Ran, however, got away. I cursed, knowing I still need to strengthen the barrier.
I was about to summon my Arms Inventory for a better fight with the boy but I remembered what Khun instructed me. I knew he was still right about that.
I knew that I should never underestimate this boy in front of me. Heck, his shinsu enhancement was better than me, it was more consistent every time he advanced and jabbed me.
He tossed me to the side, my back hitting a jagged rock. I gritted my teeth in frustration. Think. I told myself. Ran jumped up, advancing me from up high, and without thinking, I summoned a whirlwind that was sharp as a knife, knocking him off his course, cutting him by his arms by a bit.
I started panicking. "I'm sorry, Ran!" I scurried over to him, forming shinsu in my hands to heal his wounds. "Where does it hurt?"
He hastily clicked his tongue and swatted me away. "Stop treating me like a kid, I'm not a kid."
I laughed sheepishly, lowering my hand. "Yeah, yeah, I know, I just don't like hurting my teammates too much."
A devious smirk crept up his face. "The match isn't over yet, right?"
