One year later...
Floor 25
Variiya's PoV

"Watch out!" Yelled a voice in the distance as a spear hurtled towards me. With a wave of my hand, it slowed down and flicked over to the side.

I rolled my eyes, waiting for tantrums of disaster. "Watch it," I snapped back, turning abruptly towards the opposite direction and walking briskly away from their little fights and by the woods to continue my practice.

We were currently on the 25th Floor, and we're doing everything we could to reach the 30th. To participate in the famed "Workshop Battle" was our goal, and there's no time to slow down and relax.

The Workshop Battle takes place once every 5 years, winners earn powerful and high-ranking weapons, or perhaps even armory. This was our chance to get even stronger. I was getting better, but I was nowhere near powerful yet.

Another infamous name was starting to climb up the news: the FUG slayer nominee was rising up. Who knew what was his and FUG's exact motives? FUG was the crime syndicate that would do anything nasty to get what they want--to oust King Jahad out of his place. They might try to get in our way, but I'll hope that we won't encounter them.

I peered around my shoulder to see our recruits still busy with their training. We got new teammates in the past year. One being a new Scout and Lightbearer named Apple. It was quite a relief to have another woman in the group but heck, her make-up scares the shit out of me.

To my dismay, Khun recruited another Wave Controller to "lessen my workload" in battle. I don't like him this Michael at all. He was too cheery and happy-go-lucky, something about his smile made me feel uneasy from time to time, but maybe that's who he was.

It's not like I hate him because I don't get to fight that much. I'm not an attention seeker, excuse me.

Pausing, I took a deep breath and summoned a big amount of shinsu, steadying the gray concentration in the tips of my finger. I flicked my wrist to throw it to my target, missing the target by a few inches.

I remembered the advice I told Calliope back on the 2nd Floor. Calm down. I breathed in and out, smelling the soft breeze and humid turf of the forest. This was the same adage Paxley told me all over and over again. But I can't always tone down this boiling nervousness within me every time I use shinsu.

"Ugh," I grimaced and flung my arm wildly to the target again and deadpanned as I saw it hit dead on the center.

I groaned, my baangs were improving, but it was nowhere near perfect.

I was nowhere near perfect, I had a long way to go, a long way up to the Tower before I reach my final destination. I gently touched the beads of my necklace, glancing towards the blue sky. According to the know-it-all Emile app, Lili was now a known B-Rank Regular, I was wondering how she managed to pass all those tests so fast. Maybe that's why her other nickname was the Mauve Flash.

I had a lot of catching up, one day, I would be able to face her in a match like old times.

The sun was slowly setting down, saying goodnight as it was tired of watching me relentlessly throw bullets of shinsu.

There was this new technique I've discovered while training with the Shinsu Swordsman. Since my power's quality was wind, I have managed to wrap a large but thin amount of shinsu around my rapier, nearly concealing the blade. I needed a crap ton of concentration and focus to work that out, but for now, I'll practice the things I knew of to improve.

I've sort of figured out how to use the earrings Khun gave me. Yes, the ear piercing was excruciatingly painful, my ears hurt for a week. I wanted to pull my earlobes off that day. Ugh, stupid blue-haired jerk.
