Floor 20
Variiya's PoV
I was still incredulous, immersed in this feeling of earnest wonder as I stared out in the distance of the 20th Floor. This was the infamous Needle Hole to Heaven to cut down the numbers of Irregulars. We needed to have an intricate plan to avoid failure. The test retake is so expensive, it makes me want to cry.
Oh, what a stingy person I am.
I was in my room, lying down like a starfish on my bed, never having the motivation to move. Today I just didn't want to do anything because I just want to lay here.
Just my luck, my Pocket rang.
Grumbling, I brought it closer and saw that Endorsi was calling. "Hello?" I yawned.
"Jeez, Variiya, did you just wake up? I think I can smell your stinky breath from here." I could imagine seeing her roll her eyes. "Anyways, what are you doing?"
"Nothing," I said as of matter of factly.
"Wow, okay," She replied. I was preparing for her retort of 'You're the Violet Wave, people look up to you, you should give them a reason to fear you, etcetera,etcetera--'
Paxley was rubbing on me, ugh.
"How are you guys?" Her tone of voice changed ever so slightly, but I knew what she was implying. Yes, I told her all of the details between Khun and I. The Princess of Jahad was "an expert on romance" so she interpreted his actions for me. She told me he liked me back.
As if.
"Nothing happened," I muttered drily because it was true. After his birthday, everything that happened between us just seemed so platonic. We were teammates after all.
Endorsi clicked her tongue in disappointment, probably noticing the sadness in my voice. "He's just shy, come on, he's a Khun, what more do you expect from him? He's not used to acting cute and flustered."
I scoffed, "Yeah, right." I shifted in the sheets. "Oh yeah, we're going to take the test on April 8, that's one week from now."
"Hm?" She squeaked in surprise. "Isn't that your birthday?"
"Yup," I sighed. "Wow, I'm turning 20. Wouldn't it be quite lucky to take the 20th Test on my 20th birthday?" (*cough, cough* yeah, totally)
"You act like a child, you're very reckless and slightly intelligent," Endorsi said, sarcasm dripping on her tone. "You'll definitely make it."
Her team was currently 7 floors higher than us. They weren't allowed to tell us anything about the tests, but it was fine, I knew my team would make it. However, I still wondered how we managed to bring Rachel throughout all this.
One time, I passed her room, only to hear light thumping on the floorboards. Khun was right, she was lying to us. But I couldn't confront her about that, nor could I tell Endorsi and the rest of her team.
"But wouldn't you want to at least celebrate your birthday?" Queried the brunette girl.
I smiled and shook my head. "I've only celebrated it thrice in my entire life, so I've gotten used to not expecting a grand party or presents."
Endorsi groaned. "Ugh, I'll I go over to give you some a gift, but wherever I go there's a bunch of boys who'd follow me."
Combing my strands of purple and brown, I shook my head again. "I told you, it's fine. A greeting would be very much appreciated. You don't need to go so far for me."
"If that's what you want..." The princess said hesitantly. At the same time, I could've sworn I've heard someone by the door. There was a small creak that echoed through my room.
