Variiya's PoV
"Why did you do that?"
"The Ranker told us not to!"
"Variiya, why?"
All of my teammates were piling up questions of anger towards me, except for Khun because I knew his silence was his fury. Their complaints were drowned as soon as we heard footsteps coming over to the room.
It was the Ranker with flaming red hair, wearing a white lab pat. She clasped her hands together and smiled. "Congratulations, you all passed."
Now they were making comments of disbelief. "How?" Gyetang asked me.
I made a face. "There was never a key, to begin with, so we had to think outside of the box. So I thought, maybe the box is the key." I turned to the red-headed woman. "This entire escape room is based on a bad pun."
She giggled. "It's quite funny to see many Regulars cry over some easy task."
"But why break it?" Rachel queried. "If that was against the rules."
"The thing is, all things that were said not to bring were here, just broken. Then," From my cloak pocket, I brought out the ruler. "I found this, broken. It was telling us to break the rules."
"Are you kidding me?" Khun seethed. Clearly he wasn't happy with this stupid test. He wanted to show off his hereditary intelligence and I, unfortunately, stole the spotlight from him.
"Nope," Said the Ranker, popping the 'p' in the end. "You may proceed to the next floor whenever you're ready."
As we walked out, I couldn't help but snicker at Khun's face. Sure, I was still pretty mad, but this was payback. Gyetang and I walked side by side in the back of the group. "Are you okay?"
I simpered. "Yeah, just a little fed up with Khun."
"Not to be rude or anything, but I'm just wondering why you stayed? You could've hung out more with Endorsi Jahad."
My mouth spoke without thinking. "Spending time with both of them is nice. Though I still want to be with him more ..." my voice faltered.
Why should I care about what he thinks?
Why do I want to impress him nearly all the time?
Why did I stay when I could've just left to lessen all my problems?
The only time I realized it was by our doorstep. Khun walked passed me, his blue hair swaying softly from the wind, his blue eyes quite mellow.
"Sorry about earlier," He muttered, not meeting my gaze. With that, he went ahead inside the apartment. I could've sworn his cheeks were dusted red like mine, for I was startled with the fact he apologized.
Yeah, I know he's an egotistical man, he's a snob ever since I met him, but that's not the entirety of him. I could never hate Khun.
I was then reminded of my mother's words when I thought she didn't love me anymore when I made her mad. She just laughed at me.
"Someone who really loves you sees what a mess you can be, how moody you can get, how hard you are to handle but still wants you in their life."Mother hugged me, beaming. "You're my daughter, V.V., nothing could ever change that."
I bit my lip and charged in the living room, ignoring the talk they had in the living room regarding our move to the next floor. As soon as I slammed the door shut, I sunk down low to the floor.
I'm in love with Khun Aguero Agnis. I cursed but then smiled at the thought. Somehow, there wasn't much of a heavy weight on my shoulders. A second passed, and that clutching feeling traveled instantly to my heart.
