The emotionless voice was back. However, even though Malak knew how to block it, he didn't want to. Not yet. The angel knew something bad was happening and ignoring it wouldn't help. The only way to solve the problem was to get some answers. Sadly, that meant he had to actually converse with the voice. Something he really didn't want to do.

"Do you like eating, Malak?" It asked. The angel frowned. Why would it ask such an unusual question? If only the voice was blunt and told him what it wanted. It'd make everything so much easier.

"Yes. Why do you ask?" Malak wanted to get straight to the point. The sooner he could block out the voice, the better.

It chuckled. The voice knew what he was trying to do. But it wouldn't reveal anything yet. The voice had a plan and nothing would get in its way. "Don't you wish you could eat and just keep eating? There's food in the kitchen. Why don't you try?"

The voice was right. There was a lot of food in the kitchen. Zion bought tons of different things so the angel could figure out what he liked. This meant they'd most likely waste a lot of food which the angel was worried about. However, Zion promised to donate all excessive food. This eased Malak's worries.

However, even with all the food, Malak didn't want to just keep eating. Rather, he wanted to try the different foods in moderation. That way he could savor everything he tried.

"I do not want to be wasteful. Could you please tell me why you want me to eat?" No matter how much he tried, he couldn't figure out the voice's motives. Nothing made sense to him. It made even less sense when he thought of Mr. Baker. Something told him that it was connected to why it happened.

Why did the voice want to influence how he felt? It made no sense. It wasn't like a harmful thing. At least it didn't seem like it. Though he would make more sense if the voice was dangerous. Even if it didn't seem like it, the voice could still have malicious intentions which would help Malak comprehend things a bit better.

"You don't have to worry about that yet, Child. Just enjoy the food you have. You have so much food. Indulge yourself."

"I am fine. Can you please answer my question?"

The voice wasn't getting through to the angel. It had to switch it's approach if it wanted to get anything done. Clearly, telling the angel what it wanted him to do wasn't going to work. "You had your first kiss. How was it?" The voice inquired.

Malak blushed and awkwardly shifted his weight. The kiss yesterday as amazing. He was very happy that he'd asked. However, he didn't like that the voice knew. It felt like a moment that should've been shared just between him and Zion. Not the voice.

"I-it was good. How did you know Zion and I kissed?"

Once more, the voice ignored the young angel's question. It was very mysterious and extremely suspicious. "Do you want to kiss him again? I bet you do. I bet you wish you could keep kissing him and never stop."

"Can you please tell me what you want? I cannot figure out your motives and it bothers me."

"You do not need to know, Child. Just listen."

"I am tired of listening. Goodbye." With that said, Malak blocked the voice from his mind. Letting out a frustrated sigh, the angel rested his head back on his mate's chest. All he wanted to do was figure out what was going on but that was easier said than done.

Zion's attention snapped to his mate. He was sitting on his lap as they watched some cartoons. For as much as his mate spoke, Zion still didn't fully understand how his mind worked. "Malakai?" He said worriedly. Too much happened in his mate's head. The demon wished he could do more to help.

"I am okay. Do not worry," he replied. "The voice came back and I tried talking to it. But I got annoyed so I blocked it out."

He couldn't comprehend what his mate said. The angel actually tried to talk to the voice? The same voice that made him cry? Why the hell would he do such a thing?

Zion calmly voiced his thoughts to Malak. Sighing, the angel turned around and wrapped his arms around his mate's neck. "I wanted answers but the voice avoided all my questions. It was rather annoying-" The angel started playing with his mate's soft, curly hair- "I do not like not knowing what it wants. So far it does not seem that harmless but I do not trust it not to have ill intentions."

"Malak, you don't have to worry about it. Whatever is happening or going to happen, I'll be by your side. We'll deal with this together," Zion said.

"I know. You are a very good mate. Thank you."

"You are too, Malak. I couldn't have asked for a better mate," the demon said sincerely.

Hiding his pink face on his mate's shoulder, Malak mumbled his response: "Thank you, Zion. Can you stop calling me Malak now? I do not like it."

"I thought you liked your name?" He asked genuinely curious. His mate never mentioned anything before. What was different now?

Malak shook his head. "I do like my name but I like it more when you call me Malakai or Angel. Though calling me Angel is a bit odd. It is like calling Duck by his species. I found that rather odd; however, he did not have a name," he explained. "Nevertheless, I prefer your jokes over my actual name. Even if I do not understand them."

Whenever the demon joked and called him the wrong name, the angel felt the funny feeling. Though, he felt like that a lot when Zion was around. Especially when they kissed. The funny feeling in the angel's stomach intensified.

"It's called a nickname, Angel. Nicknames are given to people for different reasons. For me, I give people I like nicknames. Usually, more on the funny side. But you're different because I like like you. Plus, I don't think you'd get it."

"You are right. I most likely would not. I think I should give you a nickname since I like you too.  How did you come up with mine? Not the Angel one though because that is not a good nickname."

Zion chuckled, "I just thought of a more modern version of your name."

"Well, that was not helpful at all. Since you made my name longer, I shall make yours shorter. How about Zye?"

"I like it," he side before kissing his angel.

With that said, they finished watching the movie. Malak tried to pay attention but it was really hard. He was still worried about the voice and its mysterious plan. Of course, Zion promised to stay by his side and the angel knew he would. However, Zion couldn't protect him from everything no matter how much he wanted too.

He needed to be able to defend himself. Sadly, this meant he would have to use violence. The angel wasn't too fond of that idea. Nevertheless, he knew it was necessary. "Zion?" The demon turned to his adorable mate. "Can you teach me to fight?"

"Why? What brought this up?" Zion asked. The idea of his mate fighting didn't sit well with the demon. He wanted to believe he could protect his angel from everything. But he knew it wasn't true. The last time he fought, the poor angel got crushed. The only reason he won was because of his power which he couldn't control. Zion wondered if his mate's mysterious power was related to his powers. There was no way to really tell for now though. For now, he had to focus on his mate's question.

His mate couldn't fight to save his life and in this world, that is dangerous. He'd have to teach his mate something. "The voice is planning something. Though I do not know what. I expect it to be violent and I cannot expect you to protect me all the time. It would be foolish," he responded.

"Alright, I'll do it but you have to do something for me."

"What?" He asked, tilting his head.

Zion smiled, "Kiss me."

Malak blushed but leaned in and connected their lips. It was perfect. Just like the last time. He loved kissing his mate. Maybe even more than holding hands.

"Now can you teach me to fight?"
