Darkness surrounded the young angel; yet, he was sure he was awake. He shook in fear as he slowly remembered what happened last night. His racing heartbeat filled his ears and his throat started to close up, making it hard breath. Malak wasn't just worried about himself but also his mate. The dark being threatened his demon but the angel wasn't sure if she actually did anything.
If he didn't have a headache, Malak could've focused enough to mind link his mate. Sadly the pounding in his head was too distracting. The worried angel tried moving his arms so he could feel where he was. But he quickly realized his arms were bound in front of him. Strangely, his angel strength wasn't strong enough to break the metal bounds.
Malak knew one person who used bonds these strong. The poor angel shook with fear as he prayed it wasn't her. It couldn't be her. Surely, she was in Heaven being dealt with by the angels. She had to be.
Zion has been starring into space for a while. He had been planning his escape for a while through he had no idea how long he's been there. He didn't even know he got there. All he remembered was going to check on his angel when a cloud of mysterious dust was thrown in his face, promptly knowing him out.
Unlike Malak, Zion could see his surroundings. Though it didn't help much since he was in an abandoned building. The room was completely bare except for one desk just out of his grasp. He was still thankful because he could see his small mate in front of him. Malak's slight shaking caught the demon's attention. His mate must be awake finally and he must be scared.
"Malak," the demon called out. His voice was raspy from the lack of water. His angel snapped his head towards the sound of Zion's voice. The angel relaxed, realizing his mate was close to him. "Are you okay?"
"I- I am not injured. However, my head hurts. Are you inquired?" The angel replied.
The demon sighed. Of course, he was glad his mate was unharmed. However, that wasn't what Zion wanted to know. He could see his mate was safe but he wanted to know how his angel felt.
"I'm good, Malakai. How are you feeling?" He inquired.
Malak wasn't sure. He was taken from his home and now has no clue where he was. His mate was beside him but they weren't safe at all. At least, his demon sounded physically fine. But that was probably the only positive thing about this whole thing.
Still, he wasn't sure how he felt or what he should feel. Honestly, he was more afraid when he meant Zion for the first time. The angel was more worried about his mate's safety than his own. Young Malak was afraid for his mate. The unknown voice could be near and he wouldn't even know. They could kill his mate and he wouldn't be able to stop it. That terrified the poor angel.
"I am terrified," the angel honestly responded.
Zion worriedly studied his shaking mate. The demon wasn't entirely sure how to help his mate. Both of the beings were bound tightly and the younger being had a blindfold on. The situation wasn't ideal. There really wasn't any way for Zion to make this situation seem better.
He sighed, "I'm afraid too but we still have each other. I'm not going to let this son of a biscuit hurt you. I promise."
"I am not worried about me. I am worried about you. It threatened you before I was knocked out," Malak informed him. "I- I do not want you to get hurt because of me. I do not know what I will do if something happens to you."
The pain in the angel's voice was obvious. Tears even pricked his eyes as he thought about his mate being hurt. There was nothing he could do to help and he didn't like that. He felt useless.
"Angel, nothing is going to happen to me. Alright? We're going to make it out of this," Zion assured his mate.
Before Malak could reply, a familiar stern voice replied, "Are you sure about that?"
Zion's eyebrows scrunched together as he tried to figure out who was in front of him. The woman was older looking though not as old as an elder. Her ashy brown hair was pulled into a tight bun while her blue eyes looked cold and dead. Though Zion was sure she wasn't a demon, the older being seemed threatening. However, that could just be because he was tied up. If he was free, he could easily knock her out.
The angel tensed when he heard her voice. His body shook more than before as he found himself struggling to breathe. This wasn't real. It couldn't be. Zion said the elder angels were dealing with his guardian. So how was she here? Did she kidnap him? No, she wouldn't do that. She's his guardian. She loved him. Didn't she? Yes, she did hurt him many times but she still loved him. She had to.
"Who the Hell are you?" Zion sneered. He had no idea who this woman was but he figured she was the voice. If he was right- which he was sure he was- he'd make the being pay for hurting his angel.
"Why don't you ask your pathetic mate," she said with a smirk.
Angrily, Zion tried to get out of his chains. He didn't appreciate anyone insulting his mate. His struggle caused the older being to chuckle. This angered the demon more. He tried to feed into his anger so he could use his powers to somehow free himself and his mate. However, he quickly realized that nothing was happening.
Zion slumped against the wall, giving up. Still, he was angry at the unknown being in front of him. "Who the Hell are you?" He angrily growled.
She looked at him quickly before looking at the quivering angel. He had been oddly quiet. Most likely in shock. Soon though he'd be begging or at the very least crying. She couldn't wait for that.
"Why don't you tell him, Child?" She taunted while walking closer to the angel.
Malak could sense her getting closer though he didn't realize how close until she roughly grabbed his face. The angel gasped in shock causing his mate to struggle in his bonds. His demon was definitely trying to escape to help him which the angel felt bad about. This was his fault. They were in this because he didn't listen to the voice.
But was his guardian the voice? He hoped not. It didn't sound like her; however, she could've changed her voice. He's seen humans do it. The poor angel didn't want to believe it. She wouldn't do this to him and to his mate. She loved him. She had to. But no matter how hard the angel tried to deny it, he knew it made sense.
"She is my guardian," he whispered still in disbelief.
