Jonathan

I was home in my bed laying down on my couch in the living room. I was holding the picture frame in my hand of me and Olivia. She had jet black, curly hair that went to her waist. Beautiful brown skin, and hazel eyes. There was a knock on my bedroom door and I was confused who it could be. I went to the door and opened it and Maxwell was there. I didn't have the strength to tell him to leave or come in. I just laid back down. Maxwell sat down on the chair across from me. He didn't say anything, he didn't need to. His presence was all I needed to feel better. "Tell me about her." He whispered and I smiled just thinking about her. "Besides being beautiful, she was the most compassionate person I've ever met. She had a heart of gold. She volunteered at the animal shelter, and would always start crying when they got a new animal. She always wanted to take them home. Her favorite thing to eat was avocados. She would eat them all the time, all the time." I sighed and closed my eyes.

"She had the best laugh, perfect smile. She was everything that I could have ever wanted." I paused and I let the pain take me. "When I got the call that she had died, in an accident. My heart stopped. I've never experienced a pain like that before. They told me the car flipped multiple times and the last flip the car was impaled by tree branches. One of them going through her chest. She passed before the paramedics could save her. She was so beat up that they had to do a closed casket." I wiped my face from the tears and set the frame down. "I can barely remember her voice, every day it gets further and further. I watch videos to try and remember but it isn't the same."

"I'm sorry, Jonathan." He walked over slowly and sat down on the floor in front of the couch and grabbed my hands in his. I know these sparks, but these were comforting, relaxing. "I'll talk to Bellamy, what she did was not okay. I know you're still hurting, and I wish there was something I could do to take your pain away. All I can do is be here." I started sobbing and rolled over to cover my face. Maxwell stayed there and let me. I started to feel my eyes get heavy, and my sobs turned to sniffs. "Go to sleep J." He moved his hand to my hair and ran his fingers through it. I could feel my breathing even out and my eyes flutter close.

I heard my alarm go off and slowly sat up. I turned around and looked to see that I was in my bed. Maxwell must have carried me up here. I went to the bathroom and looked at my eyes and they were still slightly red. I can't believe I told him about Olivia. I usually keep it to myself. Especially the details of her accident. I got in the shower and washed my face and body. I shampooed my hair and got out. I decided to put on a pair of black Nike sweats and a white Nike long sleeve shirt, and white sneakers. I blow-dried my hair and styled it. I grabbed my things and drove to school. I had to get out of that house, Maxwell's scent was lingering and it was driving me insane. I pulled into Taylor's driveway and she was already waiting outside for me. "How are you feeling?" She asked when she got into the car. "I'm okay." I sighed. "I talked to Bellamy and she didn't realize what she was doing, and how insensitive she was. She was trying to talk you up to Anabelle." I looked over to her and focused back on the road. "It's fine, I'm fine. Maxwell came over last night and I told him, everything." I saw the look of surprise on her face.

"About, Olivia? Even the accident?" I nodded at her. "What aren't you telling me?" She needs to know at some point, might as well now. "Maxwell, he's my mate." She was silent and her face went blank, that's what she always does when she is thinking. "But he is with Adam." She said. "Yeah, I know. It's tragic. Story of my life." I made it to the school and parked but I made no move to get out of the car. "What are you going to do?" I knew these questions were coming but it doesn't mean I liked it. "Nothing. If he wants to stay with Adam, then he can." I grabbed my backpack and got out of the car. Taylor following me. "I know you don't mean that." She caught up and was next to me. "You're right I don't. But I won't wallow in self-pity. I deserve to be happy and chasing after someone who doesn't want to be caught is not how I can make it happen."
