Unfortunately Fated

Chapter 6

Jonathan

     After I walked away from him I went to sit at the bottom of the bleachers, but of course, that didn't stop him from following me. "Jonathan, will you just listen?" I ignored him. I heard everything I needed to and I was going to move on. Looks like I am going to be living a mediocre life just like I thought I was. No mate, and no freedom. "I didn't mean to break your heart." Yeah, right. "Why didn't you wait for me?" I could feel his eyes burning into the side of my head. "I didn't think I was leaving and then that I would meet you. I wish this was different." He sighed and part of me wanted to believe him but I truly couldn't. "It could be, but you just don't want to make it happen." It was the truth, he could change it but he wasn't man enough to do it. "Can we still be friends at least? We still have to be around each other and I don't want you out of my life." Did he really ask me that? "Are you serious? I don't know man. I need time." I told him.

      "I understand." After that, the last group finished their mile and all came to the bleachers. Adam I think came and sat next to him and so did the rest of the group. I saw Anabelle walking past and I smiled at her. "Hey! Come join us?" I called her and she gave me a shy smile. She walked over to us and sat down next to me and I could feel the tension coming off of Max. "Oh hey, I don't think we've met, but I am Adam." He leaned forward and smiled at me and nodded. "I'm Jonathan." I gave him a curt nod and turned to Anabelle. "What time did you finish your mile?" I asked her. "Oh, I think 8 or 9 minutes. Not as fast as you." She giggled a little, it was cute. "That's still pretty good, you didn't use any werewolf speed did you?" I asked her. "No, just my normal speed." She giggled again.

     "Okay, what are we all doing tonight? We need to go out." Bellamy said getting our attention. "Movie? I would love to hang out with you guys. Since I couldn't go to dinner." Adam added in. "Well, it wasn't really dinner, we got kicked out," Kailani added in. I just rolled my eyes at her. She doesn't get it, and she won't. "Okay, listen everyone calm down. We can go eat then movie tonight." Taylor came in and defended me, which I was happy about. "Alright fine that sounds fun. How about Mrs. Ps for dinner?" Taylor suggested. "And then we can go to the movie theater down the street? Everyone happy?" Bellamy suggested. They all nodded in agreement and smiled. "Belle, would you like to come?" I asked her and her eyes opened in surprise. "Oh yeah, if that's okay." She shrugged shyly. "Oh yeah, just give me your number and I will give you all the details.

     She handed me the phone and I put my number in her phone and smiled. "Well, then that's the plan. See you all tonight." I stood up and gave Belle a small smile and walked away. Then I heard steps following me. "Hey, just wait, can I talk to you." It was Adam, I stopped and I turned around and looked at him. He was a handsome guy, I could see the appeal kind of. "Hey, I'm sorry this may seem weird. But I just wanted to get to know you a bit before we all hang out." Oh wow, what a sweetheart... not. "Okay." I stood there waiting for him to speak. He cleared his throat and started to talk. "Well, as I said before, I am Adam. And yeah Max is my fiance. But we haven't set a date yet. I don't know. Don't tell him this but I don't want him to, at least not yet." I was in shock why is he telling me this.

     "Why are you telling me this?" I asked him. "I just feel like I can trust you. Also, truthfully I am waiting for my mate whenever he may come. But again, don't tell him that." He grabbed my arm and smiled. This could work for me...if I play this right. But the question is do I even want to.  "So that I can reject my mate, of course. I want to start our life fresh together." My heart dropped, this is not what I was expecting him to say. "Gotchu, anything else you want to disclose before I leave and go shower." I crossed my arms was waiting for him to finish. "No no, I was just trying to get to know you. Since we are all going to be hanging out soon." He gave me a big smile. "You did most of the talking." I rolled my eyes at home and walked away from him and headed back to the locker room to change.
