Jonathan

Maxwell and I made it back to the territory and were in our home. Our family was there waiting for us, because of the link in packs they were able to tell when a high ranking wolf or lycan mates with their mate. They had this huge dinner set up for us already. "Oh, my dolcezza! Congratulations finally! Took long enough." Nonna came and wrapped her arms around me. "Hi, nonna. Thank you for dinner." I hugged her back. There was a knock on the door and I looked around, it seemed the whole family was here. I walked to the door and opened it, that's when I saw faces of people that I haven't seen in forever. "Mom, dad?" They gave me a shy smile and looked around. I stepped outside with them and they handed me some flowers. "What are you guys doing here?" I asked them. "Maxwell's family invited us, we heard the news." My dad said. "Okay, do you want to come in then?" I put my hand on the door and my mom set her hands lightly on mine. "We just want to talk, we don't want to interrupt anything." I let go of the door and waited for them to speak.

"The way I reacted was not the way a mother should have. I am so sorry. I realized I put my own selfish wants and needs before yours. That was rude of me and disrespectful. I know you probably want to keep your distance from us, but whenever you are ready to talk. We'll be here." My mom grabbed my hand and gave them a tender squeeze. "Thank you for coming here, mom," I told her. "I love you more than anything in the world Jonathan. When you were gone I missed you every day. I know it doesn't mean much seeing as I did nothing about it. But I don't ever want you to think that I didn't care for you." She put her hand on my cheek and rubbed it soothingly. "I'll let you and your father talk." My mom backed away leaving me standing there with my dad.

"Congratulations son. This is a new chapter for you." My dad said it was awkward between us and the tension was thick. "Thanks." I put my hands in my pockets. "I know that being the head pack doctor isn't something you got to choose. And I'm sorry for pushing it on you the way that I did. You deserve to make the decision for yourself whether or not it's something you want. I just looked at it as a way for us to bond and spend father and son time together. That's what my father did with me and I guess that's all I know how to do." He took a deep breath and continued. "I don't care what you do, what you choose. I just wanna spend time with my boy. No matter how that looks." He gave me a sad smile and cleared his throat. "You should get back to your dinner."

He then started backing away from me and walking back to their cars. "Hey, dad." They stopped and turned back around. "I'll see you at the hospital tomorrow." My dad's face lit up with a huge smile and came back to me and pulled me into a hug. "Tomorrow." He pulled away grabbed my mother's hand walked back to the car.

I went back inside and the house was filled with laughter and joy. Taylor ran up to me and hooked her arm around him. "So now that we are both mated, we need to have our kids at the same time. They need to be best friends too." I chuckled at her, of course, that was something she would say.

"Can you even get pregnant? Can I even get pregnant?" I raised an eyebrow at her. "Well, I know for mated male couples, the less dominant one changes to where they can reproduce. That is how Maxwell's parents did it, but I don't know how it works for girls." She looked slightly disappointed. "Hey, don't worry. I'll figure it out. I am starting training again tomorrow and I'll research it. We'll figure it out." I gave her a light nudge and smiled at her. "You're going back?" I could see her try and hide her excitement, she always thought being the pack doctor was my calling, the reason I was born. "Why fight what I was born to do? I'm just sad that it took thins long to realize that I actually liked doing it." Taylor screamed in excitement and wrapped her arms around me. "Oh yes! Finally! I'm so happy." Maxwell walked into the room where Taylor and I were and grabbed my hand. "What are you screaming about now?" He asked Taylor. "Tell him." She said taking a sip of his wine. "Well, I decided that I am going to finish my training and become the pack doctor."

Maxwell's face lit up in excitement, joy, and admiration. He pulled me to him and laid a small kiss on my forehead. "Are you ready for the coronation? Its a big deal. The official Delta of the royal family. The Delta of the biggest pack in the world. The Delta of all Deltas." Taylor asked him. "As long as I have Jonathan by my side, I'll be okay." He looked at me lovingly and I stared back in adoration. I really loved him. "Everyone! Come to the living room!" Someone yelled and we all listened and followed the crowd. "Now tonight we are celebrating two great occasions." Robert, Maxwell's father spoke. "Maxwell and Jonathan have completed their mating." The room filled with cheering and clapping. "And my boy has his becoming the official pack Delta."

"Having been the Delta now for about thirty-five ish years, I am ready to pass the torch. Maxwell, you are more than deserving of this title. We all have our bad moments in our life, some are just better at hiding it than others. Your vulnerability, your openness, your humility, is what makes you a great Delta. Better than most. Though you may be the third rank, you are never less than. This pack can't run if it doesn't have all its functioning parts. You, Vincent, and River will be carrying not only this pack but the world on your shoulders. That is a big responsibility. One I know you'll be able to handle. Now that you have your mate in your arms, you'll be able to accomplish anything." Maxwell leaned and gave me a tender kiss on my cheek, pulling me closer to his side. "Now when you have pups that's a whole different story. But we will all be here to help you whenever you cross that bridge. Raise your glasses." Everyone lifted their glass in the air. "Cheers, to Maxwell and Jonathan. The happy couple. I compagni sono un dono della luna. Una rarità che dobbiamo sempre custodire."

Everyone clinked their glasses together and repeated after him. "I compagni sono un dono della luna. Una rarità che dobbiamo sempre custodire." Smiles covered everyone's faces as they all looked to their mates lovingly. I took a moment to look around the room and see that I was surrounded by love and family. I looked up at Maxwell and he was already looking down at me. "What's on your mind, love?" He asked me, wrapping both his arms around me. "Absolutely nothing. I am just happy." I rested my head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat. "I love you, J." He whispered. "I love you, dolcezza." Maxwell chuckled at the nickname, seeing as only his nonna calls him that. But it kind of stuck with me. Dolcezza means sweetie, and this boy sure was that. I leaned up and laid a soft kiss on his lips relishing in the feeling.

This was all that I've ever wanted.

This is happiness.
