"Jordan! It's me. It Elena!" Elena yelled as she held her hands up. Poor girl was so scared she was trembling. I rubbed my eyes and blinked them a couple of times. "Jordan. It's okay. You're safe. I need you to put the gun down." She assured me. Alaska whined at my feet. I reached down and rubbed on her head. I felt as ease. Elena reached slowly and grabbed my hand the gun was in and pushed it down. She took the gun and laid in on the dresser. She pulled me into a hug. "It's going to be okay. You're going to be okay."
I sat on my bed. I took some deep breaths. After a few minutes I calmed down. Elena went to get me a glass of water. Alaska licked my face and heads. "I'm okay girl." I assured her. Elena came back into the room. "Thanks." I said. "You're welcome." She looked at me. Elena never looked at me differently. She was always upfront about what I needed to do. She was a true friend. "I could have shot you." I mumbled. "Well you didn't." She whispered. "I had this horrible dream about Michael. Then I heard the knock I thought it was him." I explained. "It was just me. Henry was crying and you didn't come so I thought something was wrong." She said.
Elena took Henry in her room the the rest of the night. She got up when Henry cried and took care of him.
I was grateful for Elena. She truly cared for me and my son. Elena always says I was like a sister to her. She never judged my past. She tried to motivate me in every way she could. She was everything I could ask for in a friend. That morning I woke up. I could hear Henry squealing and laughing. I smelt food being cooked. I grabbed my phone to check it. Missed called from Dad. Three messages from Dad. Two calls and a text message from Erin. I got out of bed and hopped in the shower. I took a long hot shower. Hot showers always seemed to make me feel awake. After my shower I got dressed and brushed my teeth. I looked in the mirror and noticed the fingerprints. "Damn it." I groaned. Alaska was on my heels. "I'm fine Alaska. You can give me space." I told her. I grabbed a dog treat out of the box that sat on my dresser and gave it to her. "Good girl." I said and rubbed her head. She laid down and rolled over. "Ah you want your belly rubbed." I rubbed and scratched her belly. "Who's a good girl? Yes, you are a good girl" She was such a good dog. She stayed by my side through thick and thin. "Get on the bed." I commanded. I went into my bathroom and covered up the marks with makeup. I didn't wear make up much but Elena insisted I need to have some and wear it occasionally.
I walked into the kitchen. Tommy had made breakfast tacos. "Before you leave you have to write down the recipe for those." I told him. "I will. Matter of fact I will give you a book so you can learn." He teased. I picked Henry up and gave him lots of kisses. "What are your plans today?" Elena asked raising an eyebrow. "Go see dad down at the district, find me a therapist to see, and take Henry to the park. Actually after I see and dad and a therapist we could hangout." Tommy passed me a plate with breakfast tacos. "Sounds good to me." Elena agreed too. We all ate. Henry took a nap. I decided to go while he was sleeping. I grabbed Alaska's leash. "Alaska are you ready to go?" She whined and wagged her tail.
I pulled up to the district. I let Elena and Tommy keep Henry. I walked in and walked up to the desk. "Hey Sarg. I'm here to see my dad." I said. "He's upstairs." She said not looking up and pointed to the staircase." I was buzzed in and went upstairs. Everyone was sitting at their desk. I could see dad in his office. No one noticed I was here. I stood for a moment the Adam noticed. "Hey Jordan. What are you doing here?" He said. "I've come to see my dad." I said. I spoke to everyone and chatted before entering dads office. Adam was a good looking guy. I could look at him all day. Antonio and Kevin was nice looking too. Honestly Kevin was nice to stare at all day too. I don't see how Erin does it. I knocked on the door and walked in. "Hey dad." I greeted. "Hey kiddo." I sat in the chair. "S-" I started then dad interrupted me. "Want to tell me about a traffic stop last night." I leaned my head back. "Blondie." I mumbled. "I was speeding home after I left Mollys." He got up and come sat my me. "I know I should have not been speeding. I honestly don't have any excuse for it." He patted my leg. "I took care of it. Don't let it happen again. We talked for a little while. He had a case come up so I left.
I skipped finding a therapist. I can put it off a little longer. Later that day I went to the park with Henry. I peaked over my shoulder a time or two just to make sure Michael wasn't lingering near. I wanted the last encounter I had with him to be the last. I definitely didn't want him to see or be near Henry. I put Henry is a swing. I lightly pushed him. My phone buzzed. I dug in my pocket and pulled out my phone. "Let's meet up." Came across my phone. Who is this? I sent a message back. I continued to push Henry. I couldn't tell if Henry was enjoying the swing. His facial expression was confused. My phone buzzed again. "Come to Navy Pier. Friday at 7pm."
Elena, Tommy, Henry, and I went to my dads. I wanted to introduce them to each other. We ate and talked. Erin had come over. We talked for hours. Dad took Henry and they played til Henry fell asleep. "Let Henry stay the night with me." Dad said. "Dad it's been awhile since you had a baby to watch. Are you sure you could handle it." I asked. "Yes. I'm capable of taking care of a child." He replied. I thought about it. One night wouldn't hurt. "Okay. Dad you can have Henry for tonight." I told him. "Great! You can pick him up at the district in the morning." He smiled.
