It was 3:30 in the morning, I paced back and forth around the room, because sitting down wasn't an option for me. At this point eating wasn't even an option. I didn't want to go to sleep not until my baby was found. Intelligence worked around the clock trying to look for Michael and Henry.
Uncle Al came in the room interrupted my pacing. "You keep doing that, you'll make a whole in the floor." He said.
"What else is there for me to do?"
He sat at the table and motioned for me to join him. I walked over to the table. We sat in silence, neither one said a word. I shot a glance at the clock. "Nine hours. That's how long Henry has been gone. Nine." Al grabbed my hand and held onto it. "Everything will be alright." He got up and walked out the room. Good ole Al doesn't say much but yet he says a lot. Al just coming in to sit with me made me feel a tad better.I decided I'd go back home, it wouldn't make a difference with anything but I felt the need to go. I couldn't keep looking at these same walls any longer. Dad was sitting in his office talking to Al. I knocked on the door and walked in. The phone started ringing it made my heart drop. As dad answered it and talked my heart raced my breathing picked up. "It's not the news we wanted but Michael was spotted leaving your house getting into a black truck. We have a partial on the plate." He said. Al got up, "I'll get Ruzek to run it." I sat in the chair where Al sat. "Dad I don't know how much longer I can do this." My dad come around the desk and sat beside me. He put his arms around me and held me. "Jordan I promise I will find Henry and I will bring him home."
Kevin drove me home, Dad had demanded me to come home and at least shower and get something to eat. We pull up to see Kim and Roman watching house in case Michael showed up. I slowly walked up the steps. I stopped at the front door. "I don't want to go inside." I said. Kevin grabbed my hand. "I got you. Come on." I walked inside. Alaska walked up to me. I knelt down and scratched her belly. "Where's Roscoe." I looked around. Elena came from around the corner. "He's in Henry's room. He want come out."
I walked into Henry's room as Kevin and Alaska followed behind me. Roscoe was laying by the bed. I went over to him and loved on him. I took Henry's favorite stuff animal and put it beside Roscoe. "Kevin if we can't find him I'll go crazy."
"We will find him Jordan. I promise. He will come home."
I got a shower, changed my clothes, brushed my hair and teeth. I felt like I had been run over by a truck. Right now that doesn't sound like a bad idea. I climbed on my bed where Alaska laid as always. Sleep was fighting with me, my eyes hurt from the crying and the sleepiness. I closed my eyes for a second before I knew it I went to sleep."Jordan! Jordan! Jordan wake up!" Kevin said shaking my arm. I jumped up quickly knocking the pillows and blanket off my bed.
"What? What is it?" I asked.
"We gotta go to the district. That truck that Michael was driving was spotted."
I quickly found my shoes. We ran to the car and rushed over to the 21st.As we got upstairs, Voight was on the phone and everyone else was patiently waiting to here the news, even Trudy was here. My heart raced fast. I was ready for this to be over with. I needed my baby home. I needed to touch his little hands and feet and hear his squeals when he was happy. My dad hung up the phone, "the truck Michael was in has been spotted close to Chicago Med. Dawson and Brett spotted it. As far as they know nobody is in the car."
"What are we waiting for let's go!" I said. "Jordan, you're staying here with Trudy." My told me.
"But Dad."
"No buts. I don't want to get your hopes up."They all ran out and left. I turned towards the stairs and Trudy blocked my path. "You heard him the first time."
"In this very moment I hate you right now." I said and went to my dads office. I paced back and forth. Waiting for this kinda news was the worst. I felt sick to my stomach. Time was not on my side, it felt like hours had passed and I still haven't heard anything. I kept looking at my phone. I messaged Kevin to see if he would tell me anything. All I need to know was if Henry was okay. I can deal with the rest later. I marched out of dads office and stood where Trudy was sitting
"Sarg, can you at least drive me around. If they call that's quicker we can get to them." I pleaded. She thought about it. "Please. I'm begging you." I said. "Come on." She said. We got to her car and got in. My knees shook and I begin to bite my nails. Trudy grabbed my hand and held it. Her phone ranged and she answered it. "We will meet you there." She told whoever she was on the phone with. "Is it good news? Did they find him? Is my baby okay?" I questioned. "They said to meet them at Chicago Med." she said.
We arrived at Chicago Med. Instead of me instantly running in I sat in the car. What if he's not okay and no one wanted to tell me. Trudy and I walked into the waiting room. Firehouse 51 and the 21st was huddled up. When everyone parted a path, I saw him. "Henry!" I cried. I immediately grabbed him from my dads arms and held onto him tight and gave him so many kisses. My heart was full again. I could relax. My baby was home again.
