I was leaving the pier and almost to my vehicle when I noticed a person leaned against my car. "Please don't be him. Please don't be him." I mumbled. I felt my heart start racing. I got closer until I saw who it was. "Found you a new toy to play with?" He inquired. "What are you doing spying on me Michael?" I questioned. He walked closer to me. I could smell the alcohol on his breath. "What are you going to do about it?" I pushed past him. He grabbed my wrists and pulled me back to him. "Don't walk away when I'm talking to you!" He yelled. "Stop! That hurts! Leave me alone." I begged. He laughed. He pushed me against the car and pinned his body against mine. "I miss doing this. It's no fun with the other girls." He sneered. I tried to push him off. He didn't budge. He was stronger than me. He was bigger. I could not fight him off even if I wanted to do it. It was just my luck that it was only me and him around. "Michael I'm begging you to stop." I pleaded. "No." He snapped. Without thinking I scratched his arm and kneed him right in his junk. He let me go and went to his knees. In that moment I decided to run for it. As I took a step forward he grabbed my ankle and sent me flying. I fell to the ground. I hit my shoulder hard as I came down. I laid there stunned at what had just happened. It was like I couldn't move. Michael crawled to where I was. He put his knee into my chest and put his hands around my throat. "You will pay for that." His hand came across my face. The ring he wore caught my lip. I tasted the blood in my mouth. He raised his hand again. A slap came across my face. This time that same sing caught above my eye. He raises his hand again going for another hit. I closed my eyes and braced for the impact of his hand. Firetrucks in the distance spooked him. He fled into the dark.
I sat in my car. I didn't want to go home, I wanted to call my dad but I didn't want to drag him into my mess. I grabbed my phone and called a number. "Hey, can you come pick me up. Please?" I asked. I waited for an answer. "Thanks.." I sniffled. I messaged Erin asking how Henry was. I stared out the window, reminiscing on how I met Michael.
I walked into my normal hangout. It was a cool bar. Music was never loud. It was never crowded. I was hopping to get as drunk as I could. Maybe I'd find a guy to to sleep with. I was doing one or the other. I sat down and order my usual drink. A guy slides money across the bar. "All of her drinks is on me tonight." I turned to get a glimpse of this gentleman. "Hope your pockets are deep." I smirked. "Oh don't worry miss, I can handle it."
A tap on my window interrupted my thoughts. I jumped. I turned to look who it was. Ruzek opened my door. "What the hell happened to you? Are you okay?" He questioned. He grabbed his phone. "I'm calling Voight." He said. "No! Don't call him. Please. Not yet." Ruzek helped me out of my car. He gently grabbed my face and checked out my wounds. "Jordan what happened?" He asked. "I don't want to talk about it. I need stitches. I'm not going to the hospital. Can you help me or not?" He looked around. "Voight is going to kill me you know."
Dad would indeed not literally but Ruzek should me on his best behavior if he finds out. "I'll tell him I made you." I told him.
We moved my car and locked it. We got in his car and headed to the next stop. Dawson owns me a favor over at 51. I'll take you there." He said. "Dawson? I thought Antonio worked with you." I wondered. "He does. His sister Gabby is a firefighter paramedic." He responded. "Oh. Gabby...that names sounds familiar." I mumbled. "What was that?" He asked. "Oh nothing." I replied. We pulled up at 51. "After this you are going to give me some information on what happened to you tonight. Got it?" He demanded. I looked out the window. "Fine." I agreed. We got out of the car and walked up the walkway. I grabbed his arm and stopped him, "I don't want my dad to know. I will tell him." He shook his head. "Let's go." We went inside. We walked into double doors and entered a room where a couch sat and some two older guys sat watching tv. One the other side of the room was a long table where several others sat. The man who looked in charge stood behind a counter chatting it up with another guy. I must admit Chicago has some mighty good looking first responders. As we walked in I stood behind Ruzek. "Ruzek what do we owe the pleasure?" The boss man said. "Hey Chief, I just need to borrow Gabby and Brett a second?" Ruzek replied. "Is everything okay?" He asked. I step out behind Ruzek. "It's for me.." I mumbled. Everyone that was sitting down stood up. Chief walked around the counter. "Hey, I remember you. You're Voight's daughter." Gabby said. "Voight's what?" The blonde headed guy said. "Daughter? Voight has a daughter?" The black headed guy asked.
After I told everyone how Voight does have a daughter. They introduce themselves. I sat at the table while Gabby and Brett stitched me up. I told them about my time in the Marines. "I gotta ask Jordan. How did you get the cuts?" Casey asked. All eyes was on me. I felt knots form in my stomach. "I fell." I lied. Obviously none of them believed me. "I'm clumsy. I didn't want to go to the hospital again. I didn't want to worry my dad." I said. "Please don't tell him." I begged. After Gabby and Brett was done I thanked them. I told Ruzek I would meet him in the car. It took a while for him to come back out. I assumed they talked about me. Michael was the last thing I wanted to talk about.
Ruzek finally came back to the car. He got in but he sat there. He didn't start driving and he didn't say a word. "Y-.." I started but he cut me off. "You almost drowned today." I didn't answer. I looked out the window. "I'm not moving this car until you tell me something dammit." He turned the car off. We sat in silence. "Michael Novack. He's Henry's sperm donor and my ex. We met about a year ago I guess that's the right time. It was at a bar we had some drinks then we left together." I begin my story of Michael and me. Ruzek turned turned on the car, pulled off and headed to my home. I told him every detail, the good, bad, and the ugly.
We arrived at my house. "Let me help you. I can. Hell you're dad is Voight. Tell him."
I wish it was that simple. I was in the Marines and can't even defend off a guy. "I will." I said. "When?" He asked. "Tomorrow." I lied. Ruzek walked me inside. Elena and Tommy was on the couch watching tv. Elena noticed us come in. "Hey! What the hell happened?." I explained everything to her and Tommy. Ruzek eventually left. I messaged Erin once against checking on Henry. She enjoyed his company and wanted to have him over more.
I got a shower hoping that would make me feel better. It helped. I crawled into bed. Roscoe and Alaska joined me. I rubbed their stomachs. I turned on the television to watch. I eventually fell asleep.
