"Minju, get the meat from the freezer," Chris instructs you from the patio, and you follow willingly.
You, Chris, and Changbin were in charge of grilling the meat. Ever since Chris saw the grill out back, all he thought of was what delicious seasonings could he combine to create the perfect barbecue. So you and Chris bought the meat the night you came to Los Angeles, and you couldn't have seen him any happier.
Taking care of his eight best friends was one of his top priorities, and he loved doing so.
He would provide for you guys as much as he could, and he didn't care how tired he'd become at the end of the day—heck, he would do it for eternity.
Chris had natural leadership skills, and he was also really caring for those around him. Whether people liked him or not, he'd be sure to give them the best of his abilities, only wanting the receiving end to be happy and satisfied.
The other kids were divided into two groups—one for side dishes, and one for beverage hunting. Seungmin, Minho, and Felix wanted to take on side dishes, so the rest went out to buy some drinks.
As you made your way to the freezer in the kitchen, you passed by the busy trio, doing their own assigned duties in certain areas.
You looked to your right and saw Minho and Felix down at one of the tables. At the sight of the two, a smile automatically layered your lips, seeing how endearing they looked as Minho crouched over and helped the clueless boy with cutting the kimchi properly.
He was being an amazing older brother, even without having any younger siblings.
But as you kept your eyes on them, you bumped into one of the doors, stubbing your toe and clucking your head somewhat painfully on the wooden door.
Always getting hurt, clumsy fool.
The realization of the act immediately shocked through your body, and you brought your foot up to massage the hurt part, cringing in pain and sighing at your carelessness, ignoring the minute pain on your forehead.
"Min, what happened?" Seungmin rushes beside you, holding a spoon and a bowl in his hands.
"I just ran into the door. It's alright, no worries," you tell him, laying your foot back down. You peeked in at what was inside the bowl, and immediately, the overpowering smell of sesame oil came through, making your mouth water.
You can never go wrong with sesame oil and that is a universal fact.
"Hey, that smells good," you compliment him.
"Just be more careful next time," he shrugs your comment off, leaving a kiss on your forehead before walking away as if nothing had happened.
You continued on scoping out the freezer for the variety of meats Chris had bought. There was a lot. What can I say? The guy knew his meats.
You took a tray to stack the packages of meat on, and quickly brought them outside where you saw Chris (and a trying to be helpful Changbin) setting up the grill.
"How are the side dishes going?" Changbin asks, taking the tray from you and setting it down on the table as you rolled up your sleeves and pulled your hair into a messy bun.
"Seems pretty okay," you tell him.
You watched as Chris was testing out the fire, placing a chunk of coal each time he thought it wasn't big enough. Changbin did the same as you did. Chris had told you two to step away as he tested the fire, so you stood there, waiting for him to finish.
He seemed to have been finished, so you wanted to start off by taking the meat out of their bags and washing them. The table was on the other side where Changbin had brought it earlier, but as you passed the grill, a big flame spiked right in front of you.
