Rose Point of view
I would have never thought in a million years that I would be carrying a child, our child. I had given up on the idea that I would be able to give this miracle to Dimitri as I knew he always wanted to be a father. I remember back in the academy when he told me he would someday like to settle down and have a family he could call his own with children running around. But somehow, that miracle came true as I was pregnant with Dimitri's child. I could already imagine who he will be because I do believe its a boy. He would be just like his father; caring, loving, protective, and would somehow have my fears in him.
My parents had decided to keep me away from Court, which included away from being Lissa's head guardian. They had the fear that if anyone knew I was pregnant by another Dhampir that they would treat me like a lab rat and my unborn child as well, and I wasn't taking it. I would give up my life before they experimented with my child.
I wanted to go to Baia and tell the Belikov's of the good news, but my father insisted that I didn't step into Russian territory as every Strigoi wants me as I got famous for restoring Comrade to his natural state.
My dad gave me a choice I would stay in one of his family houses here in the states, or I could pick. I decided New Orleans, Louisiana. You ask that because that is one of the places that I can call home as it were the Dragomirs lived. I would spend in the house every summer that I could remember. I remember as Lissa, Andre, and I would have a water gun fight in the backyard of the home and how Mrs. Dragomir would get mad at us as we always messed up her weak plants. Those were the best years of my life, and I wanted to relive them in somehow. My dear parents contracted guardians to protect me under his name. They all knew my father and the reputation he had.
The day I walked into the Dragomir house, I cried as the house looked the same as it did before they died. All those memories that I carried with me were all flowing back as I walked around and saw pictures of Lissa, Andre and myself. The house was kept clean I'm guessing by Lissa's orders, of course, she hasn't been back to this place since her parents died.
Liss always remembers this place and orders for it to be kept clean and has maids living here to have someone live in it. Now that she has Jill, she can share the Dragomir fortune and properties. Which now is Princess Jill, at the age of 16 is the most wealthy young one. But back to me, I kept a real smile as I walked around the house.
That's when Lissa's invited me into her head.
As I looked around her surroundings, I noticed she was in her office as she threw a bunch of papers.
" I wish you were here, Rose. I miss you," I heard Lissa wisher to herself.
" you don't know how much I miss you," I whisper back.
Someone knocked on the door and waited for permission.
"Enter," Lissa said low.
What surprised me the most was that Dimitri walked in, well, what was left. Dimitri looked half dead; his hair was the only thing that was in place. His beautiful brown eyes looked a shade darker as his eyes were red from all the crying.
"Dimitri," Lissa said in a low voice as he took the chair in front of her.
" Vasilisa, please, I beg of you, take me to my Roza. I don't care if she doesn't want to see me. I know your different and I know that you'll help me because I know she loves me. I will still be there no matter what she says," Dimitri begged in a way I never seem him before.
" Comrade," I whispered low.
" Comrade," I heard Lissa repeat, which got Dimitri to look at her thoroughly.
When he made full eye contact with Lissa, he instantly smiled with happiness.
" Roza," He mumbled.
I couldn't help but smile at the sound of his voice saying my name with such desire.
"Roza, please don't push me away.' He pleads.
"I can't keep going through this torture. All of this has no meaning without you in it."
His words tugged at my heart. I couldn't deal with seeing him so weak. I tried my best to leave Lissa's head, but I couldn't.
Then I remembered everything he made me go through, and I decided he didn't deserve my pity.
"I know what your thinking." He said, "And your right. I don't deserve you." He continues.
For some reason, an image of a young Dimitri calling me Momma submerged my head.
"Please, at least for the love we had... or the one that's growing inside."
