Thirty minutes later, Jessica was sitting in the waiting room of the Recruitment pavilion, hands gripping at the ends of her hair in anxiousness.

The woman was anxiety-ridden waiting for her best friend to come from the back of the examination rooms, biting her lip as she watched the door for Steve. A sudden movement from her peripheral vision and she turned, eyes wide as a doctor sat down beside her.

"You are with Steven Rogers, yes?" The middle-aged man questioned her, his German accent thick. Jessica narrowed her green eyes a bit, heart stopping in her chest as she thought Steve's discretion on his application had been discovered.

"In what sense of the word are we asking, sir?" She retaliated, tilting her head to the side. Doctor Erskine simply let out a small chuckle and said, "You came here with him, yeah?" Jessica nodded slowly, "As his bride or friend."

Jessica choked on her air and she shook her head, "Friend. I'm not like that at all with him. Why would you ask that?"

"Well, if you were, you could go back with him, but as it seems you aren't," He sighed, standing up and going to walk away. Jessica gulped and stood as well, saying, "Wait."

Dr. Erskine stopped and gave the woman a knowing smile as she said, "And if I said I was engaged with him?"

"Then you could come back," He simply replied. Jessica let out a long breath and gave him a curt nod, "I am to be married to him."

"Alrighty then."

Abraham Erskine waved her back and Jessica grasped onto her purse tightly as they made their way to the examination rooms, passing doctors and nurses who were giving them indrecious looks.

They quickly found where Steve was, a soldier escorting them to Jessica's best friend. Jessica narrowed her eyes at Steve's file that was in Erskine's hands and grasped onto his arm, whispering, "Steve isn't going to jail is he?"

When Erskine didn't answer, Jessica's eyes widened, her heart stopping making her say, "Please, no. Please, take me instead. Steve didn't do anything wrong."

"Relax, Ms..." He stopped, asking for a last name. Jessica sniffed, shaking her head a bit, "Martin. Jessica Martin."

He nodded, "Relax, Ms. Martin. You and your fiance are in no trouble at all."

Jessica let out a long breath and Dr. Erskine moved the curtain they were in front of, the woman sighing in relief when she saw Steve.

The man gave her a look of confusion, his heart dropping thinking that he was going to prison, "Brooklyn Baby? What's wrong?"

Jessica made her way over to him quickly, wrapping her arms around his neck. Steve instinctively wrapped his arms around her waist, blushing a bit at the interaction before Jessica pulled back, saying, "He says we aren't in trouble, but I think he knows about the forms."
