Four years later......

Lesley watched the rise and fall of his chest as he slept. She turned her back to her work and sighed.

They had been together for so long but she could vividly remember their first lovemaking. How Earth shattering it had been for her.

She had loved him from that moment and afterwards he took her slowly, worshiping every path of her till she ignited into flames.

She took a quick look at him again. Their love had been the best thing that ever happened to her.

Four years now and there was not a strain, it always felt like they were just starting. She loved every path of him and showed him in anyway she could.

They always celebrated their anniversary. She had seen his brothers on occasions and he had seen her sisters.

They hadn't resulted to telling their family they were an item but they knew they suspected already. At least her sisters and his brothers did.

The parents thing was a bit off. This was Africa after all and introducing your partner to your parents when you are not yet engaged was not a common act. They mostly did things on their own.

He had told her of his past. She too had relayed her experience to him. They had no secrets between them and she loved how free and beautiful their love was.

But things were taking the wrong turn. Iredia had a job but his income was low. The world wasn't that fair despite the fact that he graduated with a first class degree. Without connections getting a decent job was hard.

She was also managing herself. Using the little she had to support herself and nowadays Iredia too. It wasn't much but it helped a lot. Her dreams of joining the working class didn't go as well as she had pictured it.

Lesley got up to cover Iredia as he kicked the blanket away. The last four months has been hell for him. He had been working so hard. Taking on extra jobs just to take care of his brothers who now depended on him. His mum had been sick for six months now.

The illness was taking its toll on her, she needed an operation to save her failing heart. They had been trying to get the money for it but it seems almost impossible to.

All her jewelries had been sold and put in a savings account for his brother's schooling and his mum wouldn't let them touch a dime from it to add to her operation money to save her life.

He didn't know what to do. Should he tamper with his brothers future at the expense of his mother's life? He badly wanted to do that but he also didn't want to go against her wishes.

All the money he earned was sent to the hospital so that her health condition could at least be managed. He also sent monthly allowances to his siblings.

He was beaten. So beaten down and he was slowly drawing away from her, closing in on her. They were best friends. They shared everything but lately he was drifting. He was taking the whole burden on himself.

Telling her it was his cross. He hated it when she used her money on him,. She knew it, he hated being fed by her when he should be the one doing the feeding.

There were temptations everywhere but the worse was from his boss. They had been introduced long ago but Mr Kane wasn't what he seemed to be.

He was nice and pleasant when she was with iredia but when he knew no one was looking he would turn his predatory eyes toward her.

She had been smoothly avoiding him until the company's after party last year, when he had the guts to make a proposition to her. Promising her goodies and all.

She had been disgusted and had told him so but he had still continued to pester her. She had always hid it from iredia. No need to destroy the relationship he had with his boss especially during this hard times.

Mr Kane was getting too persistent these days. He was always calling. She was finding it hard to keep this from iredia. If she didn't do something about this it would cause a strain in their relationship.

The ringing of the phone stoped her musing. Iredia shot out of the bed looking like a wild animal. He picked up his phone and walked into the bathroom of his small apartment.

"No!"

Lesley heard the shout from the bathroom and quickly went there.

"Iredia, iredia! Open up are you alright?"

The door was forcefully opened and blood shot eyes stared unseeingly at her.

"She's going to die Lesley, she can't die." He spoke with a choked voice that was barely a whisper.

"What happened? Speak to me please. What did the doctor say?"

He staggered forward and she caught him before they both collapsed on the floor from his weight.

He was so lean, not the man from before. She dragged him into her chest even as he was still struggling to stand up.

"It's alright, it's going to be alright, she won't die."

He looked at her like she had gone crazy

"Didn't you hear me? They need 2.2 million for the transplant before Saturday. Where would I get that kind of money? Even if I sold all my property, it won't be enough.

Iredia sagged, squeezing her so tight. She felt a slight pain but she remained there. She couldn't watch her love wither like that. She had put her love and time into him and she won't let him loose someone so special to him.

Tears choked her throat and slid down her cheeks but her voice was firm.

"We will get it. Even if it's the last thing we do we will get it."

Iredia looked at her for some seconds before burying his face in her chest. She buried hers in his hair knowing full well what had to be done but knowing she risked loosing everything.

She tucked him in bed and excused herself outside. She brought out her phone and called the last being on Earth she should be talking to.

"Good day sir."

She put all her effort to making her voice sound neutral.

"Do you have time to spare? I would like to see you about your proposal, if you can make it."

"The surprise and excitement on the other end was so blatant. He quickly picked a place but Lesley wouldn't let him have the upper hand.

"Let's meet at the continentals in an hour time. I have a proposal of my own too."

She wailed, thinking he would decline but he didn't. Before he started telling her how he wanted her, she cut the line and went back inside. He was a rich man, if he really wanted her that bad then the money was too small to stop him.

Lesley walked back to the room and found iredia sound asleep. The sedative she had slipped into his drink worked well.

She wrote a note, telling him she was going to see a friend and left it vague like that.

She showered, put on a sexy mini dress and  did a thorough makeover. She was going to put her best into this. This was her only chance and she dreaded and prayed it worked

There was no other way. She looked at iredia and swallowed a sob. This wasn't a time to feel dirty, she had a game to play.

With a last glance at the man of her dreams, she walked out and into her supposedly demise.......
