A double period of History of Magic on Tuesday morning with the Hufflepuffs - Joy, Lily thought bitterly.

Almost three hours of Professor Binns droning on about Giant Wars meant by halfway through the lesson the entire class was either playing a silent game with their nearby friends, or had fallen asleep.

" ... And thus I conclude, the Giant Wars were pugnacious conflicts that had great historical significance to the Wizarding World, having taken place in the end of the nineteenth century," Professor Binns recited in his usual sleepy, slow voice. "The giants gather to remember this every few decades. Remember that Giant Wars are part of the O.W.L.-level History of Magic curriculum at Hogwarts and you will be required to know this for next year; do not fear, though, as long as you continue to pay attention this and next year's lessons you will learn all you will need to know. Next year I will be setting very long essays on the Giant Wars, the maximum length being a foot-and-a-half-long, but today I will simply set a nine-inch essay due next week recapping on all you have learnt on the Giant Wars so far. The class is dismissed."

The few who had even made any notes at all (Remus, Lily, a Gryffindor boy who on the verge of falling asleep, a Hufflepuff with a lisp, his girlfriend who had a highly-infectious cold, and Willow's Hufflepuff sister Felicity along with her friend Fifi) gathered them up, along with the general equipment and books like the rest of the class.

"So tired," Felicity groaned.

"I know, "Fifi brushed the rainbow-coloured strand of hair out of her face.

"Your hair's mad, you know that, right?" Jared told Fifi.

Fifi shrugged. "Hi Lily."

"Hi," Lily grinned, turning to Felicity. "Hey, Fern. Your sister Will says hi."

"Say hi to her back," Felicity smiled. "Wish Nix, Will and I were all in the same house."

"Don't worry about it, Fern, there's no point looking back and blaming," Lily told her.

"Wisely put," Fifi raised an eyebrow.

"I bet if your sister Phoenix was here," Jared glanced at Felicity, "she'd say Lily'd make a good Ravenclaw. I feel like that's what Ravenclaws always say."

"Many Gryffindors tell our courageous fellow Hufflepuffs say they'd do well with you guys," Felicity shrugged. Fifi nodded.

"Hi, Jared," Remus popped in.

"Hi, Remus," Jared grinned before leaning in. "Scars alright?"

Remus nodded gravely. "My friends are helping me with it."

"What, your 'furry little problem', as James puts it?" Jared's grin returned.

Remus laughed. "Yup."

"Your 'furry little problem'?"

Jared and Remus turned round to see Lily, Felicity and Fifi giggling at the term.

"Don't worry about it," Jared said.

"James says some funny things," Fifi shook her head.

"Nah, he's just annoying," Lily said.

"Says you," Felicity stated. "Can't blame ya, though, being asked out constantly."

"I thought he'd understand by now the only answer he'd get would be rejection," Lily shrugged.

"He hopes one day he'll get a different answer, he clings onto that hope a little more tightly than I'd consider healthy," Remus mumbled.
