"Thanks, Sev," Lily smiled as her best-friend-that-had-become-a-non-best-friend-because-of-his-Death-Eater-ways-but-had-become-her-best-friend-again-much-to-his-incomprehensible-relief passed the pieces of parchment over.
"No problem, Lil'," Severus smiled back. "Right - ugh, History of Magic. The Goblin Wars of the late nineteenth century ... I had trouble paying attention to that."
"I know," Lily nodded. "But I tried to take notes anyway since I knew we'd have homework on it. Right, these are all of them."
"Okay," Severus looked at the piece of parchment, filled with dot-points and Lily's neat handwriting.
Lily glanced over the Black Lake. Not far from where she was sitting with Severus was a group of fourth grader girls, almost all of them those whom Lily knew. Then her gaze move for a fleeting second towards Hogwarts; under a tree in that direction sat the Marauders.
It was a typical scene; Remus doing his homework, Peter looking over Remus' shoulder and copying down the words on his own piece of parchment, Sirius looking towards to group of girls and James playing around with a Snitch.
Then Lily turned back around to her homework, muttering something so quietly even Severus couldn't hear that sounded a bit like, "Big-headed idiot ..."

"Homework finished!" Lily mumbled victoriously as she burst open through the common room portrait hole.
A couple first, second and sixth graders stared at her. The gang of fourth year Gryffindor boys was also in one corner; Jared grinned at her. Hogging the couches were Lily's friends.
"Lil', where were you?" Marlene was on a couch, inspecting her nails very closely. "See, Alice! They do have dirt under them ..."
"Yeah, you missed lunch," Mary added.
"No wonder I'm so hungry," Lily walked over and collapsed by the fireplace. "I've done all my homework with Sev, finished! It's a good feeling, to have it all off your shoulders."
"You've done it all in a single day?" Willow couldn't understand it. "That's so typical of you, Lil'!"
"Well, Will, I guess I had to get it done sometime, and I want to get through my O.W.L.s next year," Lily shrugged. "Besides, since first year I've wanted to prove Muggleborns can get just as good results as purebloods."
"You don't have to prove that, everybody in Gryffindor knows and those Slytherins who don't recognise that are too thick to try persuading anyway!" Alice exclaimed, still being pestered by Marlene who was now shoving her fingers in her face snd screeching that there was still dirt under them that was impossible to get out.
"Marlene, nothing's there," Jazmin sighed.
"I did some of my homework but the History of Magic, Charms and Transfiguration stuff was way too hard," Darcy said exhaustedly.
"Apart from Potions and DADA, that is all our homework," Jazmin pointed out.
"Oh yeah, whoops," Darcy put a hand in her straight brown hair. "Tell you what, I'll attempt my Charms tomorrow ..."
"I can help you with that, my wand's good with Charms," Lily volunteered.
"Thanks, Lil'," Darcy beamed. "Transfiguration, I can try tonight, it's not that much anyway so it should be fine."
"I can do that with you," Jazmin said. "I need to brush up on my Transfiguration skills anyway, I haven't been concentrating on the subject so hard as of late."
"And History of Magic, you can do in the night before next Tuesday here in the common room like every other normal Gryffindor," Marlene murmured distractedly.
"Yeah, that's a good plan," Darcy nodded.
"And the rest of us?" Alice asked.
"Good luck," Darcy grinned.
