Remus recovered from his weakness as the moon began its waning stage. October began, and troublemakers all around Hogwarts gathered for the first annual 'Rebel's Night', which was being hosted in the Room of Requirement which Peter had accidentally discovered when he got lost in a section of the castle he was unfamiliar at night with a bursting bladder.
"Oh, tonight'll be fun," Sirius grinned.
"I know, right?" James threw the Snitch back into the air before catching it, not moving from his relaxed position on his bed.
"When's it gonna be again?" Peter asked, holding a pillow tightly as he watched James throw, catch and re-throw the tiny, winged golden ball.
"Ten o'clock, Wormtail, we organised it ourselves, remember?" Sirius scoffed.
"Oh yeah," Peter looked to Sirius before refocusing on the Snitch.
"Whatcha reading, Moony?" James threw the Snitch even higher before snatching it back down again.
Remus took another bite into his chocolate. "The 20th Century Guide to Defence Against the Dark Arts," he replied. "It's Ministry-approved."
"I wish the Room of Requirement appeared on the map," James moved his hand over the Marauder's Map. "It'd make it so much easier."
"True dat," Sirius nodded.
"Do you want me to run this shift of Evans-Watch?" Peter volunteered.
"Knock yourself out," James nodded.
"Don't actually knock yourself out, Peter, he means you can do it," Remus said quickly.
"Oh," Peter nodded, walking out the door.
He returned a minute or two later with a red hand-mark on his cheek. Sirius burst out laughing, and James soon joined him. Remus shook his head and sighed, though couldn't suppress his smile and Peter's incredulous expression.
"What happened, Wormtail?" Sirius asked with a grin, clearly intrigued.
"I don't think Marlene McKinnon likes me barging into their dormitory and asking them where Lily was," Peter put a hand through his mousy brown-blonde hair.
"McKinnon did that?" Sirius asked. "Hm, I guess she is good-looking ..."
"You're not seriously considering dating Mar?" James stared at Sirius. "She's been our friend for ages! Stepping up like that'd be impossible, Padfoot, and besides, you of all people should know how stubborn she is!"
"Why are you guys so into girls when you're only just getting into the teen stage?" Remus sighed. "James, you have 'Evans-Watch'; really? And Sirius, you snog ten girls a week, don't take advantage with them with your looks! Peter and I are the only sensible ones here!"
They weren't listening. "Hm, what would Evans like this Christmas? It's October, I think it's time to start thinking about it."
Sirius put his hand on James' shoulder. "A word of advice, Prongs; chicken."
"Huh?"
"Women love chicken," Sirius said.
"What sort of advice is that, Padfoot?!" James whacked him in the shoulder. "Idiot."
"Ow!"
Remus shook his head. Peter was thoroughly amused.
